I tried to think of what I knew to be true, and my first thought was of Claudia...
the solid sense of her reality, of our conversation together...
but then I realized that May had seemed no less real. After all, I'd poked her in the arm.
She shut the door of my car after getting in. And she opened it when she got out — didn't she?
I couldn't quite remember. But it didn't matter: if I was the only one who saw her,
then everything she did and said could easily be figments of my imagination.

She’s quiet for a minute and keeps working, then she’ll stop, think then work some more.

“Well, I’ve only ever been with a guy before but I’ve been attracted to some girls too.”

Oh…that’s so…

“Like how attracted?”

She looks at me and grins. “Depending on the girl and her personality, very?”

“So you’d?”

“Yeah, I would. I think I would at least. I mean there’s not a lot she’d do to me that I haven’t done to myself and there’s that knowing as a girl what another girl likes and stuff too.”

“And guys?”

The meal was no wonder of modern cuisine, but it was properly cooked and filling, and I noticed that it wasn’t just tea being consumed by some of the older sorts. People were happy, that was the overwhelming thing. Mostly in pairs, mostly touching, even Von’s earlier pain seemed to have left the building, as she came to life discussing her baby’s college plans with Kelly and Mark as if Will wasn’t even there.

As Jaime laid in bed after Dr. Reed left, she looked between her mother and her life long friend sitting on the edge of the bed. Darla was very worried about Jaime, because they actually used to do things together, much like Jaime and Danny did. Darla wasn't your girly girl, girl, she was more of the adventurous type, just short of being called a tomboy.

Thomas was a happy man with a wife, two kids, and job he really enjoyed. That would change and his wife, along with his lover later on, would see to it that his life was never the same.

A Short Introduction:
This volume of Snippets is quite a bit different from the first three. Rather than being short, but complete, stories, this is more of an actual collection of snippets -- pieces of stories I've been working on. Some of these are relatively recent, being born from brainstorming sessions as I try to get myself back into writing. Some of these are years old, and have been mentioned in previous blogs and postings of mine as "works in progress."

All of them, however, have one definite feature in common: they are far from being finished, and I'm not sure if they ever will be.

Therefore, I have decided to post what I have, as is, for reader's enjoyment thereof. Some of these I might attack again at some point in the future, fleshing them out and finishing them off. Perhaps they will appear as something almost completely unrecognizable from what they are here.

Others, if the author is right, I might pass on to another, should someone I think could do a good job of them ask for one.

For now, this is what there is, and this is what readers will get.

I checked my bags once again, cycling kit, Sophia's dress — even some normal clothes. For once I had everything under control; I straightened my bakery uniform and headed off for work.

Hours to go…. The lovers have to prepare their home for the party-goers and themselves for being the reception Committee. So much to do, and so little time!


Chapter 20 — We are ready!!!!

"No," she said. "Get it: I'm dead. I'm a ghost. For real. Can you understand?"

I turned and looked at her. Then, pointing my finger, I slowly and gently poked her in the arm. She was soft to the touch, much softer than I expected, but she was no ghost.

"You're real," I said. "You're not a ghost."

She scoffed and in a scornful tone said, "Oh, and you know all about ghosts, I'm sure!"

I bit my tongue for a moment, then told her, "I will drop you wherever you want to go, but I will not play this game."
