Chapter 7: Revelations

CHAPTER 3
That was the day our lives changed. The payout from the lottery came to €82,136, and it seemed that Roland’s new boss knew a man, who knew a man, who had a wife, and that wife had a house she had inherited from an uncle, and…

It was a house with three bedrooms, which was one more than we had ever had before, on the Rue Saint Vigor in Colleville Montgomery, a little way inland from Ouistreham. It meant that Roland could drive or ride to work in a reasonable time, and I could have my own space at last. After some negotiation, we moved in at the end of June, just in time for the start of the summer holidays. Maman had been busy as well, and she came home smiling just before the move.

Chapter 6

Fran gave me a look as if she needed an answer and she wasn’t going to let it drop.

‘Fran, honestly I can’t be awful to Helen. She never did anything bad to me; she just thinks I’m not assertive enough.’

Dearest Lady Francis-Elizabeth Lane-Stewart

I have only your most recent letter to go by as Coleen has hidden the others from me. She has not read this one nor the letter from your grandmother as of yet. I would have requested help from your grandmother but as you know a magess is almost incapacitated when traveling by ship.

I request your assistance as soon as possible. Lady Coleen and I had been having tea with Lord Mathis, Ladies Petra and Rachel of Westholm, and the Pastor of Queens street North when the most unfortunate circumstances happened.

Here's chapter three. I'm winging this one. I've only just finished chapter three this evening. I know roughly where I'm going but I'm letting the story take me where it will.

This story has been two years in the making. I hope you find as much pleasure reading it, as I did writing, 'The Yankee Belle'.

The seemingly random flicker of light was coming from a rather dated television, but it was the only source of light in an otherwise darkened room. He didn’t mind that the Agency he’d worked for the last few years had sent him out to remote places always to work another case. What he did mind he was the fact he was now only just ten weeks out from him being forced into retirement date and they had given him a new recruit to train.

Chapter 3: A Quiet Beginning

Beth felt one thing for sure - Time was running out.

She could feel the spirit of the new kid, the bright female spark hidden inside a male shell getting weaker. She knew she had to act fast, if she was going to help the new kid, so she steeled her courage, and waited until classes got out.

This might be difficult enough without an audience.

She followed the new kid for a block, and then said, “Hay. Wait up!”

The new kid turned, and looked at her.
