All I can say is that I was sort of there listening to what was said, although I wasn't conciously aware at the time due to the drugs they had pumped into me at some point to help stabilize me. I did know that my injuries were quite serious, but I didn't know everything yet.

On some level, though, I could hear quite a bit of what was being said or happening around me, like trays being picked up?

Chapter 30

We ate in companionable silence for a while. Chelle looked in much better spirits.

“So....why is a pretty new girl not surrounded by admirers?” Chelle asked.

“Pretty?” I said with a smile. Chelle smiled back and blushed. “I think the whole school already knows that I am not from rich parents. That alone is likely to keep most away. I think most of the jocks have been asked to keep their distance.”

“Why would they do that?”

This story comes via an inspiration I got from glancing at and remembering the story "What a good boy" by Bailey Summers. As Bailey mentioned in the comments for that story, having a male undergoing a vaginoplasty and yet living as a male is quite unusual.

I hope to provide my own look at living a life where one has to live with conditions and requirements like that. I hope I do it justice.

It was also inspired a bit by the story Tommy that Teddie S. has been posting, although mine will be much more from the male side of things.

Chapter 20: 217-222 CE: Sucked In, Chewed Up and Spit Out

Since it was impossible to move existing buildings on the plateau, the first action would be to build replacements on the slopes for those. The first job would be to build homes for themselves, then the replacements would be done. The buildings would be cut into the slopes with a mostly earth enclosed basement, a partially enclosed 1st floor and an exposed 2nd floor. All three floors would have a ground level entrance. The earth covered portions would be built from stone utilizing the excavating rock where possible. The remaining excavated rock would be used to create terraces on the sides. In addition, one large plot was set aside for a large building with the intention to build a library and offices for a Barmaz location of Corvus Scriptorium. Raben had intentions of terracing much of the valley to create more farmable land as well as pasture or tree terracing in the areas currently impossible to use. During downtime, each farmstead was given areas to work on since large scale terracing was a generational project.

Chapter Six: So Many Questions!

Notes: This is the sequel to “The Many Faces of Har---er, Adira Potter.” If you haven't read that series yet, this one isn't going to make much sense. Also, a reminder for anyone who forgot: the person formerly known as Harry still exists, she's just transgender in this one, her new name is Adira, nicknamed “Addy.”

Chapter 29

My first day of school. Eve and Gem wished me luck. Laura, on the other hand, took great care with me. We debated over whether it would be better to wear a wig or go with my striking short sides and pink middle. She was worried that it would draw some negative attention and so suggested a wig that was obviously a wig. It would still draw attention, but would allow me to take it off during gym and on a different day use a different wig that was less attention drawing.

Girlfriend

By the time I was in fifth grade home life was the equivalency of going to a liquor store: go in and get what you need, loiter for as long as the clerk can tolerate you before he shouts in a foreign language and get out.

Stealing a Twinkie or a Pepsi was optional.

Chapter 28

That night was a bad one. Tomorrow was going to be my first day at school which I felt nervous about and we managed to arrange the movie night for Sunday, so telling Eve was put off for a few days. Laura said it was her turn to be with me, but she was going to spend a bit of time with Eve first and slip in later. I tossed and turned, struggling to get to sleep. I didn't have a temperature, but I did feel uncomfortable, hot and sweaty.

It was interesting in a way, regarding adjusting to having Allison with us. For the first few days after she found us, Allison was sharing my not very big bed over the driver's and front passenger's seats. That changed a few days later when one of our folks inflated and placed a double size air mattress in the covered back of their large pick-up truck, a Dodge Ram 3500 long bed. That suited Allison just fine.

I remember that Zoe Haeckelthrope, who had a minor in sociology and clearly thought my feminist consciousness needed raising, used to tell me that the Male Gaze objectifies women. If that's true then after a month of working here I ought to be a statue.
