Just saw that Rebecca Heineman passed away

Ars Technica just had a write-up on transgender game developer Rebecca Heineman, who passed away Monday, 17 November, 2025.

Her mentoring skills became doubly important when she publicly came out as transgender in 2003. She became a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ representation in gaming and served on the board of directors for GLAAD. Earlier this year, she received the Gayming Icon Award from Gayming Magazine.

I remember playing many of the games she worked on, most notably Baldur's Gate III. She may be missed, but will live on in her legacy of games.
