Nipples skywards

and stuff like that
Just a short missive from yours truly.
Well i made it to the cycling festival at the weekend after a six day trip and some drama and i'm currently in Sheffield, kind of marooned.
So i followed the Fosse Way north through some very mixed weather reaching Lincoln on Thursday morning. The wet moved in as i closed on the Humber estuary and then at Brigg, disaster. Not only did the recently replaced rear gears self destruct but they took out a spoke too. I was wet and in tears but i rigged the drivetrain as single speed which then joined in the fun just a mile further on resulting in a 10 mile walk/scoot to my overnight accommodation, arriving about as wet as you can get.
With the intervention of some friends who rescued me on Friday morning, we managed to re-rig the single speed set up to do the 120km round trip to the festival site so not a total wipeout. Just to be straight, all the stuff that broke was checked, cleaned and serviced as required just a few days before i departed Brizzle, there was no sign of imminent failure and the ride was pretty easy going, almost 100% good tarmac. Some stuff can be fixed at fairly low cost, a spoke, a replacement gear hanger but to replace the killed parts like for like will be @ £400, beyond my current budget and so, with my transport dead, my expected return ride not currently possible, i'm marooned for a couple of days at least.
So, at the moment i don't know how i'm getting back to Brizzle or how i can fund the repairs down the line. Please accept my apologies for the lack of posting and i'll try to give an update when i'm able.
Tschuss
