Growing Up

Agreed. The relationship must remain exactly what the opening presents it as: lifelong friendship. The reader should discover everything else naturally.

Kev Williams and James Ashbourne have been inseparable since they were fifteen—two village boys united by rugby, motorsport, gaming and an apparently limitless ability to torment one another.

But Kev has been carrying a secret that could change everything.

A nervous visit to Sandy’s Cosy Studio offers the first glimpse of Kerry: not a disguise or a fantasy, but the woman waiting for permission to exist. What follows is not simply a transition. It is a life built step by step—from uncertain beginnings and a place behind Reception to impossible heels, fiercely loyal friendships and becoming the person an entire company depends upon.

James remains beside her throughout: accepting, infuriating and still charging headfirst through life without anything resembling a plan. Around them, careers develop, businesses grow and an unlikely collection of friends gradually becomes something resembling a family.

*Growing Up* is a warm, character-driven TG story about friendship, identity, ordinary lives and the extraordinary difference one person can make simply by becoming herself.
