Sorry for The Short Chapter

Katlain’s Cousin’s Place:

Katlain and Kelli enter her cousin’s place and pour themselves some good bourbon from her cousin’s private stock. Both women were exhausted and just wanted to rest for a few days? Kelli slowly sips the Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon. The one they were drinking was twenty three years aged.

“Man, this is smooth.” Kelli holds her glass up and look through the amber liquid.

“I know, and if my cousins knew I was drinking from their supply, they would make me pay.” Katlain takes another sip from her glass.

“So, what are you going to do with everything you had Marshal Williams sign over to you?” Kelli has learned that Katlain didn’t need to keep the money.

“The house the three people we found living in, can either keep it or I’ll buy it from them. As for the others, funding has been set aside for them to receive physical help and help them recover. They will be transported to a ranch that specializes in physical and mental health problems.”

“You’re not keeping anything from him?” Kelli takes another from her glass.

“Nope, I’m giving everything to the organization my husband was helping. They are doing good work and need everything they can get. I also haven’t forgotten about you either.” Katlain throws a black credit card over to Kelli.

Kelli catches it and looks at it “what is this for?” As she holds the credit card between two fingers.

“For protecting me. I know my cousins hired you and I agree with them. This is something from me to you.” A smile appears on Katlain’s face.

“Thanks! You know, your not the easiest person to protect.” Kelli tucks the card away.

“I know. I’m uses to working by myself unless I’m with the task force. I have ways of getting things done that aren’t legal.” Katlain takes another sip from her glass. The bourbon in it was almost gone.

“I’ve notice. I have to ask, where did you get a law rocket from? I don’t know of any weapon dealers around Georgia that will sell those?” It’s been bothering Kelli all night.

A smirk appears on Katlain’s face. She emptys her glass, before speaking. She looks directly towards Kelli “from the very first case I did after my friend was murder by a group of white supremacist. They had all sorts of military weapons they managed to get their hands on. So, I helped myself to their inventory. I knew the government or police would come in and take everything. I just couldn’t let them have everything in there.”

“Aren’t you afraid the government might get wind of you having them?”

“Only if someone tells them. Plus, I have weapons hidden all over this city, so good luck finding them.” Katlain followed the idea that she saw on
NCIS Los Angeles.

After pouring herself a second glass of a lesser quality of bourbon, and refilling Kelli’s glass. The two of them retire for the night. Katlain still had a bunch of things she needed to arrange for her husband’s funeral.

St. Louis, Missouri:
Keli, Trevor, and Taylor take an Uber from the airport to Keli’s apartment. When they pull into the apartment lot parking lot and make their way up to the apartment “My place isn’t very big Uncle Trevor and Taylor.”

“Sweetie, it doesn’t matter to us.” Taylor had already done his homework on his niece before they left.

Plans were already in motion to get her a huge upgrade. Someone of her title will need something fancy to impress clients and such. When they walk into Keli’s apartment, it was a mess. Someone had broken in and tore all up.

Keli stands in front of her uncles with her hand over her mouth. She couldn’t believe that someone had broken into her apartment and tore it all up.

Taylor and Trevor couldn’t believe what they were seeing. They shut the door behind them “I take it, you didn’t leave it like this, sweetie?” Trevor moves forward and stand next to his niece.

“No, sir, I didn’t.” Keli couldn’t believe someone would do this to her place. The only valuable things she had, was her mother’s jewelry.
Everything else was kept in a safe deposit box at her bank.

Taylor places his hand on his nieces shoulder “don’t worry sweetie, we’ll handle this. The person or persons who did this will find out why you don’t mess with our family.”

Taylor and Trevor set their luggage down and start cleaning up the place.
