It is a problem
I have been told by my doctor that I have what he calls "Essential Tremor". As far as I am concerned it isn't essential at all, but there you go.
Most of the day I'm fine but sometimes writing long-hand can be awkward. I can't do signatures any more either, no two are the same and I bet monkeys can do better ones than the spasmic scribble that sometimes results.
I use my mouse frequently when I'm online and often I have to use both hands to align the pointer over a button or tickbox. Tricky highlighting a section of text to change too. Yet other times there is no trouble at all.
Mugs have to be carried and used with both hands now, otherwise the proverbial storm in a teacup gets very real. It's something to do with the feedback loop: my eyes see the movement and correct it but it gets out of sync and reinforces what happens.
Sigh. Getting older isn't fun any more.

Essential Tremor
I too suffer from essential tremor, also called familial tremor as it is genetic and runs in families. Mine has been apparent to some degree for about 20 years and, if it is any consolation, has not significantly deteriorated. I find that it gets worse in times of stress or worry, so try to do things that need hand close control, like signatures, when I am in a more relaxed mode. Whilst it can be inconvenient at times, it is not life threatening and is not associated with any other degenerative or serious conditions. Learn to live with it Penny, do not worry too much about it.and keep taking the propranalol. if you skip a day or two it gets worse until the drug kicks in again.

My first neurologist
said the symptoms would plateau. Fifteen or so years later, and things have quieted down significantly. And I always remember to place down BEFORE releasing a mug of coffee. Having Dupuytren's as well has been challenging, but I've compensated!

Hereditary
My dad had essential tremor, although it was just called 'shakes' in his day. I've got it and my son has it, not a good sign in a dentist! I first experienced it in my forties and have lived with it ever since.
Mine and my son's is under control with propranolol. I also find that a glass of wine is very helpful when I have to sign my name!
