We're in Trouble -- Funds Needed

Ad revenue down, book sales down, expenses up. The recent bot swarms have forced us to add more firewall protections and spin up more servers to keep us on line. Firewall services costs money, and the price of power has also gone up. We need more revenue. We've had to borrow money the last few months and we need to pay that back if we can. So revenue down $1000+ per month, expenses up $500+. This is unsustainable.

Remember, this site is pretty much a full-time occupation of 3+ people. As such, we depend a great deal on contributions from our community to meet the expenses of the site and things like internet access for each of us.

If you can help, please do. It's greatly appreciated.

Experimental Fiction

I'm changing my handle here to separate my previous work from what I'm going to be doing with a new name. I'll be experimenting with AI assisted fiction writing. I'm going to have a program help me with outlining and the inventory of characters and places. AI will keep an eye on continuity for me and help with spelling and grammar.

This is not going to be stories written by AI. I will be writing detailed chapter summaries, the AI will produce prose, then I will do an intense job of editing and rewriting so the end result will be mostly me.

The last I heard from her she was working on a new book in her Cheerleader series, but it has been quite a while since she published anything. I am more than a little concerned about her. Too many authors have simply disappeared over the past few years.

Too many simply slip away, never to be heard from again. Too much talent is lost to the world when it happens, and those of us left behind can only wonder why, only wonder what happened.

Just a quick comment about one of my pet peeves……

My spouse is a huge NY Yankees fan, which can be veeeeeery annoying, lol. Especially since our local cable tv provider carries the YES Network (Yankee Entertainment System), which means that EVERY SINGLE YANKEE GAME FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON IS ON TV, and she has to watch all of them.

Now I have nothing against sports in general, or baseball specifically - but it is very annoying when for basically half of the year she has to watch a baseball game every day! Especially since I am a Dodger fan, and she is watching the damned Yankees!

Looking for a story

Author:

I'm looking for a story.
It starts out where a boy and his friends are role playing a story from their mmorpg. They are out back of his grandmothers house where there is a teleport circle. As they continue the game they use an ear ring they found in her library. A being underneath the circle notices them and decides that they need changes as they are not the right sex to hold the power it decides they need.

Update I remember that the witches (grandmother's) group were there to seal demons.

I'd appreciate any help.

I really enjoy QUEEN'S GAMBIT by Maeryn! However there is one area that tweaks my sensibility. It is VERY minor but I thought to question it and in no way means an insult or complaint. I simply want to know if this is an "across the pond" difference.

Namely using head movement to denote YES or NO.

In my American experience, I learned that to shake one's head means moving it side to side to denote NO. To denote YES, one nods their head.

Writing emotional story segments

It is days like this that I'm so glad I'm 11 chapters ahead of what I've published.

I've been pretty good, with a chapter a week but I'm sat here in tears. I'm writing something emotional and everytime I try to write it, I sit here sobbing. I'm not crying due to frustration, I'm crying in empathy with the situation.

No, I'm not killing off a character.

Can anyone give advice on how to get around this. Or do I just have to grit my teeth and get it down?

Sharon decided to thank me for getting up early in the morning to take her to the emergency dentist, which ended with her having to make an appointment for next week, and treating her and Sam to breakfast by talking about how God made me a man.

She should be grateful God made me the kind of person who will still pick her up and help her.

Cause somedays, I have to fight my anger so I don't just stop being her unpaid cab.

While reading the newspaper today I came upon an article detailing how the state of Oklahoma is now requiring teacher applicants from both New York and California who are looking to get a job teaching in Oklahoma to pass a loyalty test. The test is produced by PragerU, an Oklahoma based conservative non-profit which is becoming well known for posting ultra-conservative and religiously based teaching materials on-line.

Here is the link to the article:

Estradiol Patches

After being on the patches for around 20 years, suddenly I have a rash at the site of application. It was painful enough that I do not plan to use them again. I do not know if the patches caused all this. They are marketed by MYLAN. com through the local VA.

I am not mobile enough to feel like goin up there to the Portland, Oregon VA to complain in person. Phone and email to them are a joke!

I'm thankful that they gave me average size breasts. :)

Ahabidah, Gwen Brown, or what ever.

OK, this has nothing to do with the theme of this site but I find it interesting.

The church in Kiruna in northern Sweden is moving. The 36 m high and 40 m wide church has been moving with a speed of 0.5 - 0.8 km/h.
This is part of moving the entire cown of some 18 000 inhabitants in order that the mine can continue.

After weeks of having one of my long-distance friends and players in my D&D campaigns be missing, I've found out that she has passed from this life and into Heaven on July 11, 2025. Natalie Holman was a bright, wise and happy soul who was giving of love in all her interactions.

Obadyah D'vorah is Natalies Jewish name. She is into fairies and like to go by the name Shiran a lot when playing them. She was in the military and was a computer programmer. She is retired and she is in her late 60's with eyesight problems, rides Harley motorcycles, plays the guitar, follows several book series, has 2 cats that like biting her.
