What makes HB 1442 particularly alarming is language critics say effectively criminalizes asserting a transgender identity in certain contexts. The bill narrows the legal protections for gender identity in New Hampshire’s nondiscrimination law and defines accessing certain sex-segregated spaces based on gender identity as an “improper purpose.”
In plain terms, the legislation creates a legal framework where simply stating or acting on one’s gender identity could be used against someone if they attempt to use facilities consistent with that identity.
For transgender people in New Hampshire, that means everyday actions — going to the bathroom at work, at school, or at a restaurant — could suddenly become legal minefields.

As a Trans Brit
We have our own, similar, problems, thanks to the deep purse of that lovely Wizard Woman.
If it is any consolation at all to those of you Stateside, here is a brief transcript of a genuine conversation overheard yesterday between two late middle aged women in a small village shop in middle England:
Where are you goin' on 'oliday this year, duck?
Tell you where I'm NOT goin'
Where's that? Iran?
Worse than that. I'm not going back to Florida until they ditch that *&*#@ of a President. ( For clarity, I should say that the expletive rhymed with "cat" )
What's the stupid *#*# done now? (that one rhymed with "punt")
What 'ant' 'e done? Started a bl***dy World War to stop people saying 'es loosin' it
'E lost it years ago. 'Orrible little man. Obsessed 'e is, with them poor trans lasses.
At this point the two interlocutors saw me, smiled and did that slightly awkward dance that you do to try to look as if you haven't been talking about a member of your community. Funny thing is, before I overheard that little conversation, I would have had them both down as "Reform" voters. Maybe there is hope?

"Lately it occurs to me..
what a long strange trip its been."
Classic bullying
It also would serve to make those who are in the main comparatively powerless to beat up on those who are even more powerless.
We are a small comparatively inconsequential group which the majority thinks they are entitled to dictate to us however they please, makes them feel powerful.
I've heard that argument even from some commentator on BC, that aren't the majority entitle to set the rules. Would not be surprised if the poster was MAGA.
