Voting
It's almost always a matter of voting for the lesser of two evils.
I'm hard pressed to remember the last time I actually voted for a candidate rather than casting my vote against the other guy.

Judges
Hi John:
I hope this finds you very well. I just wanted to share that we have a problem up here in Maine. I think that one of the most important votes we cast is for judges. In other places I have lived, you could find the names, look up some rulings, and see on websites... when that became available, or from other sources. Up in Maine, it's hard enough to find out who is running for the various judgeships. I find all of that as disheartening as looking at the top races and realizing that there really needs to be a "None of the Above" in at least half the races.
Take care, John.

None of the above ...
... is always possible in the UK simply by spoiling the paper in some way to make it invalid. My wife used to work in polling stations in elections when she worked for local government and spoiled or dubious voting slips often get special attention at the count - but that's because we still use a pencil and paper, hard to fix system here and hopefully always will.
How are you btw? Long time no contact :) You're not writing and I'm not editing and the years flash by.
