So after two hard disc crashes in two years where I lost all of my stories I was working on as well as links to the stories I loved reading, I found I had lost my mojo and just couldn't get back into writing mode !
Of course I was also busy trying to get my new hard disc into shape and look for old memory sticks or CDs where I might have stored photos and documents that had been lost . . . . after 20 years of work, I doubt if I can ever get back to where I was. The only blessing is that with my new PC I get a terabyte of space in the Cloud so don't need to save to disc any more and so long as nobody removes the cloud, I'll have the files I love preserved there !
Anyhoo, the crux of the matter is, I saw there was a "Summer Holiday Island" story competition taking place and managed to get my creative juices flowing once more ! A story line came to me and soon I was typing away like old days and it feels absolutely fabulous !! The competition ends this weekend and I am nowhere near completing it in time so I shall just let it be a free standing story on the board without being there for judging purposes and if nobody wants to read it, that's fine. What it HAS done is released my creative juices once again and hopefully will be the catalyst for more writing in the months ahead.
Just weaving words around characters and scenarios is such a joy and it can be so immersive that it lifts you out of your personal woes and takes you to fantasy places where for just a few hours you can live vicariously and dream that maybe - just maybe - it could be YOU !!

Write. You don't need to be Agatha Christie or Muriel Spark or Sylvia Plath - just be yourself and set your stories free. Its a wonderful feeling !
