Milwaukee has a World Series Championship for the first time in my almost 69 years
Technically I was here for the 1957 Braves Championship that but was aprox two months shy of my birth - Dec 17, 1957
BTW why is it the WORLD Series when it is the United States and a very few Canadian teams?
And must give another kudow to The World According to Coop

World Series
You will be unsurprised to know that the world giggles with you at the parochial local event using that title. Compare and contrast the world's actual major 'stick and ball' game, cricket (yawn) or the scope of the Rugby World Cup, before considering what 'football' means to the vast majority of humans (Hint: eleven a side, no helmets or armour, no handling except by the goalkeeper or for throw-ins; yawn for me, once again)
Then we can discuss the very peculiar US date format,. I mean, they manage to get it right in their passports...
Where I live, by the way, at the Greyhound pub, we have the World Marbles Championship, which dates back to 1588. You can see the circular playing areas on Maps; look for The Greyhound near Gatwick Airport.

As a native of Los Angeles…….
And a confirmed Dodger fan, I will ignore one of those two comments - except to say it was well played, and I am very happy that the Rays lost! That team is filled with players who love to show off and taunt the other team and their fans; sportsmanship is obviously something that doesn’t exist in Tampa.
Now, how long can the Brewers afford to keep their team together? How long until some of their young players jump ship for more money? And yes, I know that the Dodgers spend more than anyone else - hence why I post the questions.

World Series Name
Basically, when they started (the first version, in the 1880s), nobody outside the States was playing the game at a level that justified inclusion in a world championship series. (And even then, they started out calling it the U.S. championship.) So nobody was going to argue the world title with them when they starting taking offseason world tours to try and popularize the game internationally. (Worked in Japan and Latin America; not much otherwise. Cute photo of the national team playing an intrasquad game in front of the Sphinx in Egypt, though. 1890, I think.)

birthday should read December 18th, sorry
that's what happens when you post fast and your connection to the site is wonky at best
If it helps the Wisconsin Badgers football team got slaughtered by University of Iowa this Saturday
And the Packers did beat the Jaguars Thursday but struggled
The Brewers World Series parade Friday was attended by over 700 thousand folks
Milwaukee county is only about 930 thousand people
Pity we can't get a buck from each for BC's coffers
