DuckDuckGo Search is bringing up two Facebook messages indicating that Katherine Day died at age 97 in early September. Hadn't remembered that she'd posted a story as recently as 2023.
Not sure what SOP is for posting information about someone who as far as I know was in stealth mode. (I edited some of her stories and learned her male name and background that way.) Seems like an interesting story. From the Facebook obit:
[Katherine] was deeply committed to class struggle and made deep sacrifices in defense of the working class. [She] served as the strike chairman of the 1962 Milwaukee Sentinel strike, which cost [her] job but ultimately led [her] to [a] career as the assistant to President Dominick D’Ambrosio of the Allied Industrial Workers and a second career with Community Advocates. [Katherine] was a champion of many causes for justice throughout [her] life, including anti-war activism as a young [person] in the 1940s and Rid Racism Milwaukee. [Katherine] was a friend, mentor, and comrade, truly beloved and respected by everyone who knew [her]. This is a deep and painful loss, but the Society’s work will live on as [her] legacy and gift to Wisconsin workers.
The obit says that she was president of the Wisconsin Labor History Society from 1992 to 2019.
