Before anything else, Happy Thanksgiving!!
Yes, it's a day early to post such - but I'll likely not have time tomorrow, what with all the usual family craziness and the spouse's 'Second Thanksgiving' we do on the following Friday for various friends who don't have close family to celebrate with on the actual day.
'Tis the season to reflect on what I'm thankful for, which happens to include being grateful for this site and the fabulous people I've met here along the way. Especially those who have been wonderfully supportive of my obsession... I mean, my writing. From amazing comments and feedback which have kept me motivated to plow ahead even when the muse is playing hard to get, to even tireless efforts of proofreading by a oh-so-generous reader so that when chapters get posted the words have this lovely fresh and shiny polish. Thank you everyone!! I'd list folks specifically, but I'm terrified I might miss someone by accident...so if you think these thanks apply to you, then they do! <3
That all being said, and if you're still reading this, you may be wondering about the status of the seventh and last book of the Light series. As of this morning, just shy of 50k words are drafted which brings it to the middle of 'Part 3' - with the total, if it's like the other books, likely to come in around 130k - 140k. Progress on this one has felt slow, as some chapters have needed many weeks to get right...but it's definitely proceeding! So yes, it still occupies my thoughts whenever not otherwise stuck with work or familial duties. (And sometimes even while doing such things, it's rattling around in there anyway...)
I'd say more, but as always I have to sit on hands to prevent inadvertently letting slip spoilers - while petting kitties with my toes. What I can say is it'll have the usual heartfelt drama, crazy action, spiritual contemplations (and complications!), and so far two kitties have gotten scritches...as well as one pupper!
In other words, everything is barreling towards the conclusion as set up from the start...and after eight years of working on this, I too can't wait to get there!
For anyone wondering what I'm blathering about, link to the first book is here: Into The Light...hope you enjoy!

If you decide to publish the collection……
When it is lol completed, I will be first in line to buy it! I am greatly looking forward to reading the conclusion of the story, but will more than likely re-read the entire series from the start to refresh my memory.

Yay!
50,000 words! You’re really making progress! I’m delighted that you’ve managed to get some writing time in, given how busy your year has been. Naturally, I can’t wait to see the next installment. Like Dallas, I’ll probably read the whole saga again before I start it.
You are among the many blessings I am thankful for on this dark holiday morning — a list that grows longer as I contemplate it (rather like one of my stories!). I’m thankful that this site is here, that it survived another year. I’m thankful for the people who maintain it, those who write the wonderful stories we all get to read, and join in writing comments. I’m thankful for the friends I’ve made here, and for being able to actually meet some of them this past year. I’m thankful that one of my close friends here is still with us, though her health remains precarious. And I’m seriously thankful that I was able to bring my longest story to a close. :)
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Thanks for the progress update
I'm excited to hear of any snippet of progress, especially as I'm currently re-reading the series as released so far & appreciating how you've setup hints for things through the series, and I wonder how many more I've still missed that'll be resolved in the final book.
There are so many things that I'll be dying for answers for, and I know I'll miss the characters once you're done.
As much as I want to say "I want it all nooowwww!", I know you'll want to do the very best job you can on tying up the series, as your second priority. First priority must always be pet scritches.
I actually have mixed emotions...
about the publishing of Book 7. Here’s why.
I’ve been a fan of “The Lord of the Rings” for a long time. I had read the books (plus “The Hobbit”) three times long before the movies were produced.
The movies were spectacular and generally faithful to what J.R.R. Tolkien had written. The first movie was so good that I looked forward to seeing the second and third movies when they would be released the next two Christmas seasons.
Here’s the point. When I went to see the last movie (“The Return of the King”) in the theater, I actually had mixed emotions. I was very sad when the last major scene (Grey Havens) was occurring. The scene was exceptional. But the movie was about to end. There would be no more LOTR next Christmas. Nothing to look forward to.
And that’s how I will feel about the end of Book 7. I expect it will take me several weeks to read it. There will be no more “what if” questions from me, and no more outstanding questions and perusals from your phenomenal readers. So, as far as I’m concerned, please take your time writing Book 7. I’m not ready to face the final chapter.
As I’ve told you before, thank you for writing a story that’s in the same league as LOTR.
Like many of your readers I have an “Amariel To Do” list. But the only thing that I truly want when it’s published is to feel “And they lived happily ever after.”
Poke, poke. Wondering if you
Poke, poke. Wondering if you made it through Easter, or Ēostre, or Pesach, or Passover. Or any or all of them.
I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.
Yup, still here
Yup, made it through the holiday(s). Even had a short respite from work craziness in there, then the mayhem picked up again. Will see what this week brings!
Progress on the book -is- moving, just slow. Bringing this saga in for a landing means having a lot to keep track of in every scene to set up positions for that final pattern. Rereading what's already on the page for this one does have me excited to get it done for everyone to read, though! Just requires mental bandwidth to work on properly which some weekends feels like it's in rare supply.
Hope you enjoyed the holidays!
Thanks for the progress update
Thanks for the progress update, I'm happy to hear that you're still there working hard on it for us. I greatly admire authors that manage to do an extended series like this & tie things together beautifully from beginning to the end. One author who finished her fantasy series a couple of years ago had about 30 years from first book until the last, and there was apparently 20 years of planning before that first book was published as well!
I hope you have a chance to also relax & enjoy life, we'll be ready to appreciate your work once you're happy that it's done.
