I noticed there was (is?) some discussion about whether it is appropriate to discuss politics here.
The thing is, our (=trans people) existence is already a hot political topic in these times. Powerful people in the "real world" are trying to make our existence illegal, and erasing us from people's awareness. By writing stories about trans people we are implicitly "discussing politics," if only because such stories challenge the claim that we don't exist (or shouldn't)
The measures and propaganda that seek to villify or kill or erase us are part of every trans person's life now; to refuse to talk about them is to deny a huge part of our daily reality.
The feminist phrase "the personal is political" is our life now.

There are forums OTHER than BCTS
To discuss them on. Again, BCTS is NOT a political site. Erin is gracious enough to allow occasional mentioning of some things, but we do not need updates by the hour as I am well aware a lot of us watch the news. We know what is going on and do not need to be hammered with drum beating and calls for revolution here. There are other, more appropriate sites to post that material on if it matters to you so much. Do not be so inconsiderate to turn a prized site that I love into a den of mudslinging.
Please don't.
