Chapters or Complete Story, that is the question?

I have finally been able to write a new story! But, I have a conundrum, to publish it as chapters or a complete story? The story really isn't that big, it's about 48,000 words and 8 chapters, The chapters range from about 4,000 to 8,000 words. Do I, publish the complete story or publish it chapter by chapter?

You will get more reads, comments and kudoes if you publish it as chapters rather than as a single story, and you will also get the opportunity to make amendments or respond to suggestions as you go along. However if you publish in this way you are entering into a commitment to your readers that you will finish it in good time..

I find that weekly chapters of 2500-3500 words suits me best. 4-8,000 words strikes me as a bit long for a chapter but you are the author and you must decide.

As was mentioned you will get more comments/kudos with chapters. I prefer a story myself but as long as they chapters aren't 'too' far apart I can remember the plot line and go with chapters also. There have been times that I'd just collect chapters for a few weeks and wait till I got enough to give me a good read before I even started reading though. That's just me.

It depends on how you publish it if only here I would say chapters. If you do it in an ebook fashion I would suggest that you publish it as a whole book. that way people won't feel like there being ripped off at $2.99 a chapter.

Ummm, given the number of stories there are.....

To read, and most readers having to budget reading time. I'm thinking chapters is the better way to go with a few days in between each. Be sure to note that the story is complete Teddie. Loving Hugs Talia

Thanks all. Chapters it'll be. They are all written, so there won't be any big gaps in publishing them. I'm looking at possibly starting on Wednesday.

The first one was published this afternoon. And, I may publish the second chapter later tonight, since I won't be around tomorrow.
