I've never had the luxury being able to write in the morning. All my creative writing has been done in the evening. Hence early mornings, since I've retired have been dedicated to reading.

In an earlier life, back when desk top computers were a new idea, I was employed in an office machine sales company. Not being much of a salesman, I gravitated toward the more cerebral aspects of the business. When the personal computer was new, the usefulness was limited by the lack of software for it. Word processors were crude and other functions were standardized. If your need didn't fit the standard, the computer didn't do you much good. Utilizing a relational data base called dBase III and later dBase IV I would spend time in our computer room writing routines for the computers that others sold. This I could do upon coming into work, as I was usually the first one into the office and could get a couple of hours in before any interruptions. I could likewise get an hour or two at toward end of the day after others had dispersed to other locations. So the location for creative work and the lack of interruption held true there.

But for my creative work in fiction for myself, a spot away from the television which was at low volume in the evening had to suffice. Working is in fits and starts these days depending on the quietness of my mind and other distractions.
