Looking Good...
Certainly a major change from those set-your-clocks-back-two-millennia folks at home.
Things seem to be setting up well to go in any number of directions, and clearly we'll be getting another round or more of useful information as training continues.
Eric
I'm glad that you enjoyed it.
I was trying to get a bit of a realistic feel to the things that are happening to Erin as she's adjusting to a much more complex universe than her people like to think about.

Great Start
We're beginning to see the larger picture now. Nice that's there are a lot of humans who are so varied that they're nearly aliens themselves. Good job with the culture shock of entering military life too! :) As a long time SF fan, I'm enjoying this ride!
Hugs!

Good!
I'm actually quite excited by this series, I think this might be my big foray into SF work, it's starting to feel like I'm just starting to hit the story zone for this one.
Bailey Summers
Good Job, Bailey
It's nice seeing all the interaction going on, and we're just beginning, I have a feeling.

SF is as much a stretch for me
as was writing the western I wrote but there's this effect I get from stretching my creative field that's a lot like when you lift something heavy a lot then you move to a lighter weight. That's what these do for me in writing my other stories. The flow for them just feels easier sometimes.

An Aspergers point of view.
I actually have a friend who has a mild form of Aspergers. His take on things is really interesting, though at times he is reserved about putting it all into words. This idea of such genetic modification and enhancement seems really plausible to me, and I see some of it coming in less than 100 years, though FTL not so much; thought there are theoretical math folks who think Einstein did not get it right.
Remapping is something I think will happen first, and lots of us will take it. I would. Later, perhaps a binary construct will be genetically enforced, though I do know of one researcher who believes that the whole GBLT thing is an evolutionary exploration tool. Too bad the religiophobes can't tumble to that.
Nice epi.

The FTL will be better
explained in other epi's. I based this so far ahead because it gives the time for histories to have a chance to develop. I read and loved Elizabeth Moon's Speed of the dark book and have known Autistics and Aspergers people before and wanted to kind of highlight that because of the way they can feel and perceive things differently than us that in the future there are actual skill sets and jobs that they'll be better at than regular folks.
I'm glad that you liked it so far and there is going to be a few free colonies/worlds where they have the complete freedom to be as sexually and gendered varied as people can be in their heads.
Just picture all the XX, XY and all the variants being able to have a place in life due to bio-technology.

A really great
Image you have painted! I'll be definitely wanting to see more!

I'm so glad that
you're enjoying this one. I always look forward to your Input with my stories Faraway, you always come out with some things I usually don't think up.

Very, very interesting.
Lots of new things for Erin and the others to assimilate already, military life, more kinds of people out there than they ever imagined, and just getting used to being who they are now.
Very well done.
Maggie
Thank you so much Maggie.
I'm going to have fun with this one. I like getting to play with the military type of stuff without getting bashed by the detail police. I like good SF so hopefully I can write it at least a little bit.
Bailey Summers
I hate that everything you write makes me want more!
You are writing too many wonderful stories, and it takes so long between episodes. I don't know how to change that-I love all the stories, and I wouldn't want you to stop any of them, but...Argh!
I look forward to the next episode of this story. You've provided several possible conflicts, so this could really have a long life. Training could be very interesting. Will she have further contact with her Mer-man? This is detailed enough that it has a great "feel", and it's fun to read. More!
Wren
I promise that I'm not going to stop
any of my stories until they reach the point of where the 1rst book gets done. I'm going to try to keep the writing up and the series's up as fast as RL and sleep allows with a full time job and such.
I'm really glad that you like this SF story though.
Thanks Wren.

This chapter feels much
This chapter feels much smoother, almost like you're feeling more comfortable in Erin's skin. Definitely want to see more, please!
Yes I'm feeling the stride to this
the more that I write it. I'm glad that you like it. There will be definitely more.

Excellent intro to the team, ship & other species -
You're almost giving us a tutorial on positioning ourselves comfortably into the Force in their current millenium!
It was fun, now I know the basics and hope I will survive?
There are a lot of "TLA's" (Three Letter Acronyms), some one told me once they were Oxy-morons, wonder if they can be listed for us (me and stupid) at the end of chapters - whatever, so we can see what they all mean? It probably won't be needed after the 10th chapter.
Thanks Bailey, spot on.

Age is an issue of mind over matter.
If you don't mind, it doesn't matter!

Rita
That's a good idea Rita
I'll try and do that for the next chapter and include the Acronyms from the previous chapters in it. I've always found the military uses a lot of the because the jargon that most people don't get is another bonding tool for military psychology, like the headshaving and the clothes and uniforms and stuff.

GREAT START
GOOD STORY. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT CHAPTER..
Thank you
I'm always more than happy to here for the comments, Thanks Silky.

Military life
This chapter reminds me of when I first joined the Army. It seems to be kinder and gentler than the military was at the end of the twentieth century.
FTL 2
Bailey, Loving this! it has a real Starship Troopers / Full Metal Jacket feel to it with Bio Alts thrown in for good measure. the medi bay scenes with the pre military info loading were a sliver of brilliance. The idea of having all your FNG's on the same page at the beginning of basic would save a huge amount of time and effort on the part of the DIs.
The concepts you are coming up with are wonderful and i look forward to the next part, which i cannot read right away. *sighs*
Such is life, looking forward to more,
Diana
I'm so glad that you really like this Moongoddess.
SF is a serious departure for me and one of the harder genres here to write for because of all the experts here on the site. I mean not just the geek crowd but serious science minds and that's intimidating. All the cool comments like this really help me get to the next stage of things.
Thank You:)

Serious SF
Bailey, i am a writer of, of all things, SF. i have a novel published and i want to say to you, you are very good at this genre. i admire what you have written so far and i want to say, if ever you need to bounce a concept or plot thread or idea off me feel free... I'd love to brainstorm with you.
Diana
Serious Blush time;)
I might just take you up on that offer sometime MoonGoddess. FTL is still in it's infancy so there's going to be lots of opportunity to brainstorm. There's a likewise off here too if you feel the need for an outside head.
Thank You So Much:)
*Great Big HUGS*

My Very Real Pleasure!
Do me a favour and have a read through my serial 'Magnetic Personality' and give me an honest critique, I'd really appreciate it.
Hugs Back,
Diana
All human life is here...
Well, she's certainly meeting a more varied selection of individuals than she ever would have encountered at home - and no doubt the exercise will do her good as well :)
Hopefully she and her new sisters won't get involved in serious combat for a while - well, not on front-line duties anyway...
As the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, then only left-handers are in their right mind!
Newbies
Except for the modifications, this feels like the newbies getting to know each other and the service on Starship Troopers. Everything is beyond their past experiences. They've a lot of basics to learn. And for some, being women.
This story is progressing in a very interesting manner, similar to some of my favorite SF authors. Which will keep me reading until the end.
Others have feelings too.
