No plan survives whole in the first engagement with the enemy. There has to be redundancy out the wazoo for this kind of power play to survive. The other part of chess or a battle is to not show one's trump card too soon. This game isn't going to lose a pawn if it goes wrong. Lives will be forfeited.

They have to have backup plans for their backup plans, but they seem to believe that they have something that will give Carmichael pause and tip things in their favor. They're also trying to have Carmichael off balance from the get-go. Mind games played properly, and an unexpected strategy can be as important in this kind of fight as an arsenal of weapons.

I hate to think this could be the end of the story but hopefully it will be the end of this chapter . . . I do believe the Naethari have a wonderful scope for tales other than combat ! However, I AM on the edge of my seat waiting for the trap to be sprung ! Yes, there wlill be a SNAFU - there usually is in a planned action but the secret is to get around that issue and turn it to your advantage. Perfect Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance - as I had drummed into me many years ago !!

Yes, we are getting close to the end, but it is always possible that my muse will want to play in this sandbox again someday and I'll write another sequel. There are directions I could go, and the final chapter will show that there is more than one possibility. I guarantee that what they have planned is the last thing Carmichael will suspect, but he's determined so he likely won't throw in the towel.
