I'm looking for a story.
It starts out where a boy and his friends are role playing a story from their mmorpg. They are out back of his grandmothers house where there is a teleport circle. As they continue the game they use an ear ring they found in her library. A being underneath the circle notices them and decides that they need changes as they are not the right sex to hold the power it decides they need.
Update I remember that the witches (grandmother's) group were there to seal demons.
I'd appreciate any help.

Story
Yeah, I well remember that one. Ran across it again just a while back. Now all I have to do is remember where and a title or author. Kinda the same info you need. I haven't searched much here, so that kind of leaves FM. Now if I can just figure out what I was doing at the time.......
Your story….
Gahliger rising by Julie O. (Pardon the spelling.)

Where could one find this story?
I don’t ever recall seeing this story posted here nor at FM. Could you please point out where “Gahliger Rising” (sp?) is posted? I’m quite a fan of Julie O’s work and would very much like to read more.
Thank you.
with love,

Yep. That's it . I don't see it at FM, it's not on storytime. Must have been on Bobs old site. I should have it saved.
Found it!
Looks like it is: Gallagher Rising, by Paula Dillon (it’s on this site!).
Story
Thank you. I was just going to post onmy confusion. It is indeed by our own Paula Dillon, here. I hate getting old and the memory lapse.
Me too!
I am also no spring chicken and hate that most things don’t work like they used to (!). I didn’t actually remember the story, I just love a challenge and these “Looking For A Story” threads just set something off in my very odd brain! I have always been good at thinking laterally, and saw the word “Gahliger” and just wondered if it could be a simple spelling mistake, and thought that sounded a bit like “Gallagher”, and there it was!
Memory Lapse
They say memory is the second thing to go!
I forget what's first.
