Oh, and the book is lavishly illustrated by the author.
World-spanning AIs, gene-enhanced humans, and Mobile Artificial Intelligences (who believe themselves to be Norse gods) fight against each other in an effort to determine if Earth’s humans will succeed in rebuilding their civilization — or be exterminated.
A rollicking mixture of science fiction, and high seas derring-do, The Broken Rebellion is at times hilarious, dramatic, romantic, and full of battles that would make any pirate proud to shiver his timbers!

This is a big book! When the trade paperback comes out in a few weeks, it will be 800+ pages and priced at $29.99! So the $5.99 ebook price is a bargain!

Apparently part 2
The description is vague, so does it has trans elements or is it a apocalyse sci-fi type thing ?
And no, AI at least for me is not a lure.
This is not AI assisted
There are robot and android characters, called MAI in the story but Kevin wrote the whole thing himself. It's very good, a lot like something Roger Zelazny might have written.
I added a non-transgender tag; though there are brief elements that involve a female entity taking possession of male bodies, it's tactics, not transgender.

AI
I am aware of that.
I am not even happy about stories that contain AI elements at all anymore to be honest.
AI for the masses has had questionable impact on society starting with current cheaters in college and such.
So I am passing on the whole AI dystopia theme stories.
I am sure he knows his stuff but I have clearly stated my POV on the subject.
That said, I avoid AI assisted stories too. If you can't do it on your own then the result is not the result of your creativity and/or experience base and to me it is no longer 'your story'. Just because one agrees with some AI slop being put out does not mean that that slop could not have been presented in a different way that may be you as the author thinking if something else could've been put down. Like it or not you are now potentially locked into the mindset the AI regurgitates to you and that is dangerous to human creativity.
