Ten provinces and three terrirories
If Canada were to join the USA, it wouldn't be the 51st state. Rather, each of the ten provinces would become states, number 51 through 60! Yukon, Northwest Territory, and Nunavut would remain territories until they obtained sufficient population to become states, if that were to ever happen.
Can you imagine the political tidal wave ten new states, all having previously been Canadian, would cause? Twenty new Senators, probably none of them MAGA.

I used to be very anti-Eurovision Song Contest
Then it was held in my hometown. So many people had so much fun in the week leading up to the event. And very little drunkenness and aggressvie behaviour. Good, clean fun.
I still think the event itself is crap but something that brings so much joy to so many people and (except the last few years) without much hatred can't be all bad.

That sends a clear message to Trumpf that their future is NOT as a satellite or a state of the USA.
The Eurovision thing is a downer. It long past time that the UK stopped paying around (AFAIK) 25% of the costs and withdrew from the sham event. IMHO, there is far too much tactical voting to make it a real competition.
Just my 0.02p worth still the day might end well with DR Congo beating England at Football in the World Cup.

... I'm always glad if England/UK do well at anything, as, in fact, they did by winning 2-1, albeit on a wing and a prayer :) The big sporting event of the year starts at the weekend as far as I'm concerned - the Tour de France. However, I'm in full agreement with the rest of your post.

If it ever happened that you were an additional ten states (impossible, I know!) then Puerto Rico and Washington D,C. would also have to be added.
As for that song contest, if we (Australia) are silly enough to be in it, then why not?
