343 kids, many escorted by their parents, came by our house
The most we ever had
I had to get more candy as we ran out
Two of our cats wanted out
Our ailing Gracie went out twice to nibble plants and get a few pets
But then mostly sunny 75F with little wind on a Sunday October 25th?
I remember some with rain, even snow flurries
Only downside was high candy prices and the Green Bay Packers lost at the Detroit Lions
Ford Field these days
I scrapped my last Ford in Jan of 2021
But at least they are named for cats
Hope all BC-ers had a safe, comfortable weekend

Uhhh
Halloween isnt until the 31, like it always has been. Why do trick or treating a week before?
Separating two different events
Where I live Halloween, a recent import with absolutely no religious meaning here, is celebrated a week before the serious and serene religious Holiday on November 1.
Because It's Not Safe any Longer...
...for smaller kids to go out at night, especially to knock on strangers' doors. (Or so people think.) Which means -- if they're going to trick-or-treat door to door at all, as opposed to going to parties and such -- it's got to happen during afternoons, and adults aren't likely to be home to answer the door on weekdays during work hours. Which means it's happening the previous weekend.
Out here in the San Francisco suburbs, the solution seems to be to trick-or-treat at shopping malls, which of course are open during the evening.
