Walking through the fog of becoming
Coach, "You’re still learning your body, Riley." Maya's presence is more than friendship. I like her. I wonder if Riley perceives her as a girlfriend to (old) Riley or as a girlfriend to Riley the woman she's becoming?
Another good chapter, Natasha.

“She kissed me like she meant it……….”
“Like I wasn’t broken. Like I was worth it.”
Sometimes, all you need is someone who believes in you. Sometimes all you need is someone to help you believe in yourself.
Riley has two people - she has Maya, who has really been there for her, and she has her former coach who still believes in her.
Now all she needs to do is to believe in herself.
Like her former coach said, she has gone through more changes than anyone can understand - she just needs to keep trying and get used to the changes in her body. Like the women’s coach told her, Riley has the skills; she just needs to ignore the assholes and push herself through all of the noise. Not playing for a few weeks always put me off my game. Add in the changes in height, weight, and muscle mass that Riley has gone through, and she just needs to keep working to find her new rhythm, her new center if you will.
