Babysitting for a Hot Momma 6
Leslie and Sami Renew Friendship

Previously: We had been looking at clothes for over an hour when I saw Leslie Herder look at me and then my mother. I turned away, but in a few minutes I heard Leslie and then felt her touch on my shoulder. She said, “When I saw Jenn, I began looking around for you. I heard you were the one I saw with Jennifer, but each time I saw Jennifer, she was with a girl I did not recognize. When I saw your mother and Jenn together, I recognized you. Is this how you’ve been spending your summer?”

I said, “Let me explain?”

…Jenn spoke up, “Let me explain; he’s been worried about you seeing him as Sami. He’s dressed as Sami, so Sheri would be comfortable with her as her babysitter. Sami has helped me get to the hospital twice. She’s worked hard to be a passible girl for our sake…”

Jennifer said, “You should talk to Barb Sterling before you pass judgment on Sami here. Sam has talked a lot about you.”

Leslie said, “Roni has kept giving excuses why I wasn’t seeing him. Part of what attracts me to him is that, despite his being shy, he became a good friend before I started to have affection for him. You don’t know how unusual that is for me.” …Jenn giggled and then said, “Yes, I do, I’m married to one.” Leslie and Jenn laugh as they turn to Sami. “Sam said, your friendship is important to him, but I’m afraid you won’t take the time to know this side of him?”

“…What? I see a cute girl, who’s not the friend I knew? I heard him talking; it was a girl I heard and saw. What will my taking time help?”

Sami speaks up, “Jenn, let’s go, this is what I was afraid of.” Sami turned to Leslie, “I’m sorry if seeing me as this hurts. I guess this has been in me bubbling underneath.” …Something Leslie heard touched something inside of her. “Sami, is it? I was wondering if I might shop with you for a while. It sounds crazy to me, but our friendship is on the line here. That’s been important to me…”

Now: Leslie asked, “Jenn, Amy, and Sami, would it be okay if Sami and I went shopping on our own?” Shortly after they were alone, Leslie asked, “What were the tears in your eyes for?”

Sami patted dry her eyes, sniffled, and after some coaxing said, “I thought I hurt our friendship.”

Leslie said, “Sorry, I’m not sure what to think. Let’s take some time together and look at clothes.” They went to Express International. Les asked what Sami was looking for.

“Everyday skirts, blouses, may be a dress, or designer jeans, then panties and another bra,” confessed a hesitant Sami.

Les, “I’ll give you credit for nice legs… But seeing you as a girl is different for me. I don’t know how I feel yet. It’s our friendship that holds me here.” They reached where the skirts were on display. “What do you like, short like what you're wearing? Colors, blue looks nice on you, but you need more.”

Sami paused, hesitated. Les hugged her, “Sami, let’s trust our friendship.” Les saw one skirt Sami picked, and she picked two more. “Why don’t you try on these and show me?

Sami went into a changing room and first tried on a red print skirt that Leslie picked for her. She put on a white pullover that Les also picked. It was different than what she’d have picked, but Sami liked it. Sami and Les both approved to buy it.

Les handed her a pink colored blouse, indicating it was for the skirt that Sami had picked. Sami went back in to change outfits. She agreed the blouse selection was good for the green printed skirt. Sami and Les both liked the outfit, but chose not to buy it yet.

The knit skirt that Les chose, Sami chose a light cream sweater to go with it. When she liked it, both girls said it was a buy. Lastly, they looked at some dresses, and Sami decided to try on a red and black print long-sleeve dress. Les called Jenn and Mrs. Larsen to say they were ready to go to lunch.

When Sami came out to show the dress, Les, Jenn, and her Mom were there. It was a different look for Sami; they all agreed was a good look for Sami. His Mom took off the tags and purchased the dress, and had Sami keep it on.

Jenn knew a good place where women liked to eat. Sami chose a spinach salad with chicken. Mom, Amy raised her eyebrows and then smiled. Leslie mostly asked Amy and Jenn about Sami’s change. She said, “So you like that she’s transgender?” Her Mom, Amy, said, “Sam’s still a strong part of who he is.”

“Sami’s not the same as Sam,” Les said, “I’m sure I’ll like both. But she’s quite different from Sam.” Jenn asked Sami if she agreed.

Sami said, “I’m more talkative and more observant. Socially, I fit in more. I lack a lot of girl experiences, but I like learning, and I’m growing. I’ve worried about acceptance with those I care about.”

Jenn said, “Sami is the one I know; who will be dominant is not up to me. Amy, as a parent, is closer, but with Sam/Sami being seventeen, the decision will finally be up to her.”

Les, “But you see her continuing as Sami?”

“I think she said ‘her’ because that’s who she knows,” says Sami. “Myself, I’m not certain. What comes of my relationship with you, my family, and other friends will play an important part. I have seen Dr. Parsons only once so far; she will help me walk through this.”

Leslie asked, “Can we please talk about other subjects?”

Sami asked, “Mom, would it be okay for Les and me to each pick something for you and Jenn. Each of you would need to try on at least one of the items we picked?

Jenn giggled, “That could be interesting.” Mom agreed that it was worth considering.

Jenn soon paid our bills, and we got back to shopping. Leslie was the first, “Ms. Amy, I like this Skirt and blouse for you. And Sami picked a dress for a night out.”

Mom said, “You both made interesting choices.” Turning to Sami, she asked, “Are you going to set me up for a date?”

Les said, “We talked about you being asked by somebody; if you were looking nicer so someone would see you as an eligible woman and not just a mom.”

Jenn said, “You are quite attractive, and yes, I think both could be nice for you. Please try on both of them.”

Amy had changed into the outfit picked by Leslie; she changed her makeup and hairstyle as directed before she came out of the changing area. Jenn was noticeably surprised and noted, “Wow, Amy, that really changes your look. How do you feel?”

Mrs. Larsen said, “I wouldn’t have chosen it, but I like the look. Now, I will try on the dress Sami has chosen.” She went back to change what she was given. She called out from the changing room, Sami, I want you to come in and help me with the zipper.”

Sami muttered to herself as she stepped into the changing room, “Mom, what do you want. There’s no zipper. I assume you wanted to talk to me.”

Mom said, “You are right, but this is something your sister also wanted me to do. The dress is nice, I wanted to thank you and hug you before others see me and the dress. Do you really think someone would be interested enough to ask me out?”

“Mom, Roger Sanders has hinted at it, but you ignored him twice that I know of.” Sami said, “But it was Roni and Leslie who noticed it before me. All three of us would like you to enjoy yourself. We’re growing and don’t demand as much of your attention.”

Amy places a finger near Sami, so Sami will be quiet, as she is ready to step out and show herself off. She moved the curtain and took Sami’s hand to go with her.

Jenn and Leslie immediately smiled at Amy; Les looked to Sami, responding, “Sami, you did well. Look at how well your Mom looks. You picked the dress, and you got the right size. I’m impressed.” Sami and Les hugged as they listened to his mother. Amy was excited and talking to Jenn. “Did you put into Sami’s mind to do something for me?”

Jenn said, “I think they are back to functioning as friends… Do you like the idea of being asked out?” Amy smiled; she hadn’t thought about the possibility.

Roni called, “Mom, I am glad Sami and Les did what they did. We love you and want you to reclaim yourself as a beautiful woman. Sami sent me some pictures in the dress and the other outfit. I would like us to get together and celebrate with you.”

Jenn, hearing what Roni said, “I would like to go with you, but it has already been too long a day for Sheri.”

Sami said, “Let all of us go home and plan to go out tomorrow night. Everyone should be there.”
