A good job drawing the reader's attention to those notable features you mentioned in vhapter one... and mallory and vivian are charming people, too!
In fact so far I find all of your characters personable and interesting, and now want to sit down and read about 500 pages of this story... :)

Character driven
One of the things I like best about this story is how character driven it is. The comments and reactions each of the characters give are unique and feel real. It's wonderful :)
