Elsbeth disappeared six years ago today.
She posted so many wonderful stories on BCTS. My favorites are Harry Potter - Season of Change, Freyja's Daughter and The Lost Queen. I still re-read them regularly. In 2020 she was posting a chapter a week, regular as clockwork, in addition to logging in to leave comments several times a week. Many of us were in a private chat group guessing what was going on in The Lost Queen. We were so SO happy whenever a new chapter came out and we could see how close we are.

I think of her often…….
And I miss her constantly. There is a quote by Matshona Dhliwayo that fits her passing, “It is at midnight, not midday, that stars shine the brightest.”
Elsbeth was a true talent, and one of my all time favorite authors. The works which she left undone will forever call me back. The number of times I have re-read The Lost Queen and Freyja’s Daughters are so many I have lost count. Both were masterpieces in the making, and will unfortunately remain unfinished - unless somehow, Elsbeth is still out there somewhere just waiting for the right moment to come back into our lives and share her talent once again.
There are so many that have simply vanished from our lives, those who I admired, and those who I called friends. Every loss leaves a gaping hole in my life - a hole which will never be filled. Yes, I will miss them, and like Elsbeth, they have each made my life better. And the have each left it a little dimmer for their leaving.

A void in our collective heart
to read any of Elsbeth’s work is to love it and her. A master craftswoman who created worlds of wonder. I reread her stories to once again enter that comfort zone the story creates. Her absence leaves us all lessened.
