to the new month
The weather has been up and down hereabouts, but that's typical for these islands, more weather in one day than others see in a month!
I did do some writing on Monday, not fiction but on my current travelogue, research for my trip which is just five weeks away seems to swallow time like a thirsty man supping water. That trip will take me from Brizzle to East Yorkshire over the course of six days, following the Fosse Way to Lincoln then Ermine Street towards the Humber, crossing The Bridge to reach GOC. I'll make some side trips on the way of course, an arrow straight route for five days would be no fun although after the first couple of days it lacks any real altitude as it rolls through the English Midlands.
Tuesday was of course a ride day and i embarked on a Wiltshire wander - there aren't many rural roads within easy reach left to ride so i've turned to the byways and bridleways to spice the rides up. Some of these are rarely used, others quite heavily trafficed but finding that out, seeing views and even whole settlements that few others ever lay their eyes on, well that's part of the adventure. The ride covered 112km, 900m of up gained with a stop for beans in toast at Chippenham for lunch.
Then today, a trip to the nursery has given me work for the weekend, planting, albeit a bit later than ideal, assorted legumes although we're cheating with tomato's and courgettes with actual plants. I know i should've been doing this weeks ago but the very wet and cool weather in March and into April didn't lend itself to hours preparing beds - or to put it another way, it was nicer indoors! Fruit is so much easier, assorted berries and even the rhubarb only need planting once and essentially look after themselves - we'll be having home grown rhubarb in a crumble later today!
I'll be taking a walk this afternoon, the sun is sort of out but the wind is quite cool, it's not much above single digits!
The latest tome has thrown up an interesting phenomena, historically the biggest chunk of my Amazon sales have been from the USA, 75%+ in any given month but this month that has dropped to less than 45%! Other markets whilst taking a bigger share, simply don't have the numbers to fill such a void. Are others seeing this sort of pattern? Do we know why this shift has occurred? There was a noticeable drop in US sales after DT came to office last year but i'm not aware of any new trauma that might affect the communities reading habits. You can of course find all of my 50 plus books through the links below - hint, hint! Oh, and don't forget to post a review because every little helps.
As for the rest of the week, a visit to Dorset tomorrow, more bike riding, planting the veg, and some actual writing will all occur before my next post at the weekend.
For now though, that's it, see you on Sunday,
Tschuss,
Madeline Anafrid
Oops, nearly forgot, daughter #1 is doing a sponsored walk, a half marathon distance in the Peak District next weekend for child cancer research, if anyone has a few sheckles to spare you can donate or sponsor here, https://www.justgiving.com/page/susan-rollinson-5?utm_source..., thank you.
