What is happening?
The crisis i refer to is the buying of ebooks that may or may not have some TG element. Since i started publishing my writing firstly through Lulu and for the last decade and more through Amazon, the biggest market for sales has been the USA, often in excess of 90% each month. There was a drop in sales when the current POTUS came to power but the US still accounted for @ 75% of sales.
Move on 12 months and that percentage started to drop further almost month on month to the point where today, the UK, a very much smaller market, is outstripping US sales for the first time ever - and its not because my countrymen/women are buying more!

So what is happening? are other authors seeing similar trends? Is it related to the Amazon platform? Should i/we be looking at alternative sites and if so, whom? I'm interested to hear what others are experiencing and think about the subject and just to be clear, most of my sales are of the Gaby saga which hasn't had any real TG content for maybe twenty volumes!
It's very concerning, not just with how its affecting my income stream but potentially Doppler Press who we all 'rely' on to help fund this site.

Kindle sales
From a relative peak in October 2024, our DP sales have fallen in all countries by about half. US sales remain about 71%, UK ~17% with Germany, Australia and Canada adding up to about 11% of totals. These percentages have been similar over time.
The knee in the graph in October '24 is striking, but there has not been a big change in percentages reckoned by country for us. I don't have a guess as to what may be producing the change you are seeing.

Beware Of Gov Overwatch
What you are finding is similar to the little boy who loved reading Playboy, Hustler, and other naughty magazines. Even though the U.S. is basically a free nation human self preservation hasn't changed. Think of Hitler's Germany, Putin's Russia, China, etc. Do not get caught with what authorities may call non gov approved material.
In the U.S. Trump and all his band of intellectual drop outs have made it very clear transgender is mentally dangerous and should be treated accordingly. Without any understanding and already working on preconceived bias, transgender anything needs to be erased from the human genome to purify the human race. Sound familiar? If one doesn't understand it then the reaction is to kill it ignoring medical science and all other research done through the years. Transgender is a perfect natural part of human diversity which occurs once in every thousand, or once in every ten thousandth births. All depends on statistics no one can agree on.
Okay back to the falling sales of anything transgender. Humans are simply put, herd animals. The mentality factor is if everyone is doing it, why don't I do it too? For years anything transgender was a growing interesting subject, including fictional stories. With all the negative hatred coming from any one dealing with gov. including all the evictions in gov, no one wants to be caught close to anything trans, including reading material. And finally we must toss in the saturation of the subject. Transgender was an interesting subject, read about it and that's that, no longer an interesting subject. "Who brought the beer and where's the next party? This one has got old" is normal human attention span.
Thus in simple terms, the interest by the masses in transgender was a blip. The down graph is normal and exacerbated by Trump and all those intellectual drop outs like him. Did you get in on the investment in Walmart, Microsoft, any of the others? Same thing and normal cycles in humanity. Not only transgender but humans as a whole are fascinating. Just don't look too close and believe one understands. It's a sure way to go insane.

It is not only sites like this
that are suffering. A lot of the 'progressive' sites on YouTube are seeing large reductions in page hits. Channels like 'Damage Report', 'Farron Balanced', "David Packman' and 'Brian Tyler Cohen' are not getting the hits they were a few months ago.

With the current 'Dear Leader' fearful of anyone who dares to criticise him and we, are being branded as Terrorists like ANTIFA, is it little wonder that people are retreating deeper into the closet?

I have spent the last 5 days doing a major edit of Costumes in preparation for publishing (and I'm only on chapter 8 out of 20). This is not the type of news I wanted to hear, but it doesn't surprise me. It is why I had decided years ago on a different name to publish any of my Transgender story under. When I actually get around to publishing anything, I will let you all know what it is. Until then, I keep my head down and try not to draw any attention to myself. I guess I better make sure however I do this, my book is available outside the USA. I'm not really liking my country at the moment.

Conspiracy Theory?
I think not. I believe we are all (anything left of centre including TG) under attack by some kind of ultra-right-wing algorithms that detect any content that is critical of the current regime in the USA.
The presence of crypto-Nazis like the ultra-rich oligarchs with control of the so-called social networks makes me certain that this is deliberate suppression.
