has been triggered at Bell towers!
Yep, with just a few days before i start my trip to GOC and parts furren, i've been hit by a double whammy of a mouth ulcer and another head cold which is less than ideal. As a result i cancelled my planned trip to Stonehenge yesterday and restricted myself to indoors other than a short walk (treatment in itself for my DVT issues) It will be a similar pattern today which is all the more galling as the weather is pretty good.
I had intended to get on with some writing this week too, but the health issues mean my concentration is about nil, if i dose myself up its no better so that isn't happening. The extent of my medication therefore is the occasional cold powder and throat lozenge and a blob of good ol' Bonjela, fingers crossed stuff will sort itself out before i fly on Tuesday.
So, the plan going forward, well apart from not having an appetite and feeling crap, it's gonna be more of the same, i'd like to get in some sort of ride before the weekend but i'll see how everything is going. This will be the last post from Brizzle for maybe three weeks, i travel north to Sheffield on Saturday and won't be back for @ two weeks - there may be posts from GOC or not.
So:
- Saturday - travel to Sheffield
- Sunday - longish hike into the Peak District
- Monday - shorter walk in Sheffield
- Tuesday - fly to Berlin where i'll be based for 8 days
I return to Sheffield two weeks from today then return south the following weekend, i've not actually booked return travel yet! Well that's the plan.
I've been to Berlin something like 15 times in the last 30 years, sometimes for just a few hours, other times for a longer stay, that's probably more visits than i've made to London (excluding transits passing through) in the same period, the place seems to have an endless supply of stuff to see/do and it never feels like a cattle market like London, Paris etc. We'll be exploring some of the stuff a bit further from the centre this time as well as the usual tourist hotspots in the centre, places i've either not been to yet or returns to see more at some i have.
I say we, my lil Bro is paying for most of it, it costs little more for two than one so i get essentially a free ride. i will have a bit of spending money, not as much as i'd like, the last few months have not been kind to my finances what with broken bikes and broken bikes, but I should manage to buy a round of drinks and a currywurst with what i do have - and i get to play tour guide! I have @ a dozen daily itineraries to choose from, obviously we won't get to see and do everything but at least we have a starting point and can adapt with the weather.
And of course it's all good research for future writings, can never have too much hands on research!
I'll post when i get the opportunity but until then,
Tschussie,

The law of sod? Sod like in rolls of grass to patch a lawn?
I think I have it now
The Law of Sod
You must mow the lawn, or it looks like a hay field
And if it looks like a hay field you've done sod all, IE done nothing
You however seem a busy, industrious soul
Have a great trip but stay off the Autobahn
Not even a Tour de France winner can cycle fast enough for those roads
That bright yellow thing is out today
YEAH! It's sunny AND officially autumn
Today, Sept 23 is the last yard waste pickup of 2026 for Ward 14 (tosa Easttown) here in Wauwatosa
