CAUTION: DEATH
https://www.translegalclinic.com/justice-for-joelle
As part of the UK's fight to be even more transphobic than the USA, our National Health Service has introduced a 'biological sex' rule. It has just claimed its first life.
Joelle was stricken with an aggressive lymphoma, and rushed to hospital, where she was placed on a cancer ward. Staff then discovered she was trans, so she was moved to the far side of the hospital, where there was a free side room. Her cancer meds could not be started unless she was on a specialist ward. Neither could her pain meds.
Her family begged the hospital to put her on a cancer ward, it didn't matter which sex. This was refused, and after 16 days, without pain relief, Joelle died.
She was 27.
Just before that, the Labour MP Tonia Antoniazzi complained that she had been forced to stay with her mother in the Emergency ward at hospital because of a trans person (or rather, someone she thought was trans) being there. On a MIXED SEX ward.
I am beyond anger here and deep into grief.

I assume
I assume there’s no liability for the hospital or any of it’s personnel, right? No accountability?
Grrrrrrrr!

Some years back……..
I was working with a company based out of Pennsylvania. The company’s CEO spent a considerable amount of energy trying to convince me to permanently relocate to York, PA, and couldn’t understand why I refused to do so. They apparently found it annoying to deal with paying me while I maintained my permanent residence in New York State.
I finally sat down with him and his VP of Human Resources and explained that as a transgender woman, New York State guaranteed me many rights which the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania did not; simple things like guaranteeing that my health insurance provider had to cover gender affirming care, and that medical providers had to treat me as a woman. Pennsylvania on the other hand allowed medical professionals to refuse to treat me. If I had been injured in a car accident while in Pennsylvania, the emergency room personnel could legally refuse to treat me due to religious reasons.
So much for the Hypocratic Oath! Apparently some places truly do feel free to treat us as less than human.

The Poor Will Be With Us Always So Will Hate
In the beginning according to the KJV Bible, Cain slew Able, his brother because of hate or jealousy. Take a pick, one or both. The Romans slew Jews. Then they slew the Christians who believed in one God and Jesus. Romans had many gods and this was upsetting for anyone to believe in only one.
Track back through history, you aren't my race, my color, don't believe the same as me, act like me, or a clone of me, then you should die. They start learning early in school, bullies, gangs, and society. Hate because it is the easy choice and most readily approved by one's peers. Nations focus hate so the public doesn't look at their own faults either as individuals or as a nation.
Hate has been honed to a science. Trump is following Hitler and all other monarchs with thousands of willing followers. Instead of writing a dissertation on what went wrong let me polish it off in simple language.
Where's the party? What club are we going to tonight? What team (pony) you betting on? My girl has a girlfriend if you know what I mean. Politics, I don't pay any attention to that. Senator Buford promised a larger welfare check. Who brought the beer, drugs? Black Jack ran into one of those faggots last week. One of those dicks who thinks he's a chick. Left it in a dumpster.
Hugs Emma, we aren't going to change the world as a whole. Maybe a few is why we are here.

Will we change the world? Who knows? But I like Margaret Mead’s response: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.” :)

We could all see this coming
I am utterly appalled, but also totally unsurprised by this. I really thought we were better than this, but that Supreme Court ruling has put us back 40 years.
I wonder if it is possible to force the Government / NHS to pay for us to have Private Medical treatment as the NHS is no longer capable / willing to treat us safely? There are mechanisms for NHS to fund private treatment when the NHS cannot meet the need, and I think there is a case to be made here.

It turns out the death was two years ago, but is only now being publicised. It was, of course, ignored by all MSM. The link is to the legal action being taken.
What is relevant is that when it happened, the NHS did not have a set policy, so each Trust (managerial unit; mine is Surrey and Sussex Health) ran their own policy. SASH until the new rules was inclusive. The policy being run in Joelle's Trust was the same as has now been made mandatory nationally.
In parallel, the govt is now issuing guidelines for all Forces personnel and Civil Servants requiring use of 'biological sex spaces'. Mumsnet is gloating, as well as claiming that the absence allowances for trans healthcare have been cancelled, which may be untrue.
Over on the other cesspit, TwiX, the replies to the death report can be summed up as "Yay! More of this please!"

Before the new rules, I have had urology operations both transitioned but pre-op and post-op. I was always put on a female surgical ward. I was treated with dignity and respect.
The changes being brought in don't treat patients with privacy. It outs them to people who had no reason to know and I worry that some will refuse medical treatment than be treated like a second class.

I have printed a carry letter, following advice. It sums up as "Put me on a male ward or disrespect me and I walk out, and it is your medical failure not mine"
