I'm subject to COPD so I've got orders from my doctor to come in with a bad cold for prophylaxis against opportunistic bronchitis. So I'm going to the doctor today myself.
My mom is not stable with her breathing problems so they are concentrating on getting her stable so they can do more tests. My brother is working at home today so he can be on the phones and catch a plane if needed.

4 days is nothing
I have never had a cold where I felt better in 4 days. For me a cold lasts about 10 days and I don't start feeling better until day 6 or 7.
That said, it sounds like you have a weakened respiratory system, if that is what COPD means, and it is a good idea to see a doctor to be sure your cold doesn't progress into something worse.
COPD sounds like you just got a speeding ticket! :P

Back from the doctor
...with meds. And yes, I did have bronchitis already and an asthma attack I hadn't even noticed because I felt so generally bad. Feeling a bit better now. For me, a cold generally peaks in awfulness on day 2 or 3 unless it intends to try to kill me. :)
