In the current political climate, it can feel dangerous to express an opinion, or even to read someone else's.

BC was intended to be a friendly place to read, write and discuss TG fiction and that will always be its principal mission.

But part of being friendly is feeling safe. Accordingly, I'm going to modify BCs stance on political discussion, a small bit. Such discussion has never been outright prohibited, just frowned on lest it turn into personal attacks and violations of the Three Rules.

Each sicker than the other. It's just a cold, but it is a junkyard dog of a cold. (Covid test negative). I'll be okay in a few days. Been to the doctor, cocooning with meds and heated blankets. Going back to bed.

Using comments or PMs to attack someone personally on this platform can lead to outright banning from the site. If someone writes a story you don't like, that is not a license to attack them on moral grounds.

We made it back yesterday about 1 pm. We're both pooped and I did something to my left knee, but 10.5 hours sleep did a lot to restore me. :)

Speaking of which, comments on our books on Kindle and other platforms, comments there are like money in the bank. Each comment increases the visibility of the book on the platforms and good comments work double! :)

Melanie and I are leaving this evening on a short getaway, from Sunday evening to Wednesday afternoon. We won't be far away and we will have our laptops with us.

Tuesday is my birthday, so it seemed like a good time to get away. :) A visit to Disneyland is likely (we have tickets), but my stamina is pretty low lately, so no guarantees. We've planned and budgeted for this trip since January.

Play nice while we're gone. :)

While I am not overjoyed by the recent swarm of political blogs on BC, I understand that these are interesting times and people need to express their feelings and thoughts about matters of utmost importance to our community and indeed to the wider political realities.

Threads that involve name-calling may be removed, or demoted from the front page but no one is in danger of being suspended or banned for their posted content. This is vital and we need each other.

You may have seen news about fires in Southern California near where Melanie and I live. This is just a note to say, well, they are not that near, forty to fifty miles away at least and while we have had a bit of smoke pollution, that has not been too serious so far.

There have been power outages nearby, but even that has been avoided locally. The area is mostly desert mountains and not inclined to burn, though there are forests within 10 to 20 miles. We'll try to keep everyone informed.
