Fell

Fell in the kitchen and gashed my right arm on the oven door. I'm okay, just knocked a big flap of skin loose over my elbow. Got it taped and bandaged at urgent care. I'll be fine in six or ten days, and it shouldn't affect anything here.

Hugs,
Joyce

Soul of the Desert

Any proper poet has a desert in their soul and I had not visited mine in weeks, so yesterday Melanie and I drove out to the area where I did most of my growing up, Imperial County, California.

This is the southeasternmost county in the state, a land of bleak hills, sand dunes, alkali dirt, canals and farm fields. And small desert towns like dusty jewels on a beige apron.

I've been asked for a little clarity on the question of politics

In the current political climate, it can feel dangerous to express an opinion, or even to read someone else's.

BC was intended to be a friendly place to read, write and discuss TG fiction and that will always be its principal mission.

But part of being friendly is feeling safe. Accordingly, I'm going to modify BCs stance on political discussion, a small bit. Such discussion has never been outright prohibited, just frowned on lest it turn into personal attacks and violations of the Three Rules.

Hard to believe

I've been running BigCloset for more than 26 years. I've lost loved ones and found new ones. I've made friends here and elsewhere. I've written novels, stories, essays, poems and songs. I've published books.

And you all have been here with me to share this space that we have created together, a friendly place to read, write and discuss TG fiction...and other things that interest us.

Cyber-bullying

Using comments or PMs to attack someone personally on this platform can lead to outright banning from the site. If someone writes a story you don't like, that is not a license to attack them on moral grounds.

If you receive such a bullying message, please bring it to my attention. If you have sent such a missive, consider this a warning. We have very few rules here, and the main one is still, "Keep it friendly."

Erin

Reviews

An honest review or two on any of our books on Kindle/Amazon or other sites would probably increase visibility a lot. This applies to all DopplerPress, AlephTwo and Azimuth books, which help support this site. If you've read one of our books, please consider leaving an honest review. :)

Thank you,
Erin

We're back!

We made it back yesterday about 1 pm. We're both pooped and I did something to my left knee, but 10.5 hours sleep did a lot to restore me. :)

I posted Pete 74 on Patreon and Pete 73 right here on BC, please read them and comment, it really makes my day.

Speaking of which, comments on our books on Kindle and other platforms, comments there are like money in the bank. Each comment increases the visibility of the book on the platforms and good comments work double! :)

Happy Vacation

Well, Melanie and I will be taking a few days off, but we will have our laptops with us, so you probably won't notice we're not at home. We expect to be back by midday on Wednesday, the 17th.

Have fun and be nice to one another,
Love and hugs.

Downtime

The site has been down a lot lately, and I mean, a lot. Our automated systems would usually bring it back up within half an hour only for it to go down again in maybe five minutes.

Short vacation

Melanie and I are leaving this evening on a short getaway, from Sunday evening to Wednesday afternoon. We won't be far away and we will have our laptops with us.

Tuesday is my birthday, so it seemed like a good time to get away. :) A visit to Disneyland is likely (we have tickets), but my stamina is pretty low lately, so no guarantees. We've planned and budgeted for this trip since January.

Play nice while we're gone. :)

Hugs,
Erin

One day vacation

Heads Up!

Melanie and I are going to be staying in a motel tonight, and we may have to do it again in a few days or a week. I no longer feel safe trying to use our shower; we've got someone coming Friday to take a look at installing a more accessible bath.

So, I'm going to take a one-day vacation from the site. I'll have my laptop with me, but may not turn it on, who knows. Piper will be watching for problems, and we should all be fine.

Play nice.

Hugs,
Erin

What does Pete look like in a football uniform now?

Pete, after a brief time pretending to be a cheerleader, is ready to go back to playing football. But has the way she wears the uniform changed? Probably not as much as she fears it might have!

Follow Pete's adventures on and off the football field on the BigCloset Patreon page a week early and see what she really looks like in a football uniform. :)

Book Promotion - Unpossible Me

We've got a new distribution channel through SmashWords and Draft2Digital so I'm trying out their coupon code system. From now to July 14, you can get Melanie Brown's new book, Unpossible Me for only $1.99 USD if bought from SmashWords. Just use coupon code DRMTS at checkout.

Let me know if this works for you --or doesn't!-- in a comment. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy the book, I helped Melanie write the novel expansion from the original novelette here on BC. :)

Just to be clear

While I am not overjoyed by the recent swarm of political blogs on BC, I understand that these are interesting times and people need to express their feelings and thoughts about matters of utmost importance to our community and indeed to the wider political realities.

Threads that involve name-calling may be removed, or demoted from the front page but no one is in danger of being suspended or banned for their posted content. This is vital and we need each other.

Joyce

I'm ill

I'm sick with a bad cold. It's not the flu and I tested negative for Covid, so it's just a cold. And now Melanie has caught it too, but we are getting by. Today it feels like it's turning around for me, so I expect to be fine in another four or five days.

Not to worry.

Hugs,
Erin

Funds are low, $6 in accounts

We have $6 in company accounts and my own funds are low as well.

The loss of 2/3 of our ad revenue (~$1000/mo) is still hurting, especially mid-month.

Any financial help will be appreciated.

Thanks to everyone who has sent money. We really depend on you, more than you know. :)

Thanks for any amount you can send. All contributions are very welcome. Thanks a great deal to all who have previously contributed here or paid for a membership at Patreon or Hatbox.

Many thanks!

Hugs,
Erin, Piper, Jamie, Cat, Rasufelle and the rest of the crew

Just so...

You may have seen news about fires in Southern California near where Melanie and I live. This is just a note to say, well, they are not that near, forty to fifty miles away at least and while we have had a bit of smoke pollution, that has not been too serious so far.

There have been power outages nearby, but even that has been avoided locally. The area is mostly desert mountains and not inclined to burn, though there are forests within 10 to 20 miles. We'll try to keep everyone informed.

Erin
