I feel like Billy Idol here
I'm screaming "MORE! MORE! MORE!", just without the Rebel Yell.
I like Cassandra already. I want to say I'll worship Her, but I think Rhiannon of the Birds and Herne the Hunter will be pissed if I forsake them. Let's say that I'll pay more attention to her on the New Moon.

Cassandra will return in FQ3
Cassandra will return in FQ3 for a cameo(much like her cameo in Ares Bane) and will play a prominent role with the others from the FQ universe finale.
Remember to burn and nice fresh jock strap in her honor on the new moon.
Thanks Joy!

I can totally throw in a legit rebel yell along with the screams of More!
This whole story cycle seems to be shaping up quite nicely!

Fabulous!
This is the kind of magic/fantasy I do like to read. I am outspoken about magic used in TG stories because it is all too ofen an excuse for lack of imagination and the fast way to move the plot onto the foo foo stuff.
This story on the other hand is lots of fun and I hope to see more like it, please?

Wonder Girl?
"Perhaps there was room for a person like myself out there fighting against those that would take advantage of others. Perhaps…" - I can't help but picture Cassandra (Elizabeth) Sandsmark in her tank top at that point and hear the theme to the old Wonder Woman tv show. :-)
And given that I enjoy comics and I'm transgendered it's nice to know I have a patron goddess!
Another wonderful addition to the FQ Universe and an unexpected pleasure to see it so soon after Ares Bane 3. Thanks Lillith!

Cassandra was originally supposed to be in the DC Retcon universe that I'm doing at the moment (As Wonder Girl), but she just fit too well in the FQ and it gave someone the chance to go up against Ares head to head without being unrealistic.
As to to releasing it quickly: Usually during the summer, I've gone into a writing slump. I'm the exact opposite for this summer. I have two DC Retcon stories that are near completion. (Terra - being edited, and American Dream/Stargirl/Captain America merger, which is 3/4 the way finished.) and three others that I am adding to when time allows. See blog for more details.
On the plus side I'm busy!

Cassandra
Patron Goddess of those with low self esteem. lol. Good line there. Wry, figuring things out as she goes, and so far doing a pretty good job of it even if slowly just now. Let me just say she didn't disappoint at all, as I'd expected.
Good to hear that you're busy this summer.

Hi Lillith
I know in the past, I have stated you are way high up the short list of my favorite authors, and that i might be your biggest fan. I just don't know where you get all your inspiration, and then the way you put it all together into a great storyline(and I truly hope it continues) just boggles my mind. I rate you right up there with the great story tellers. I know that when I have some down time and just want to get lost in a story line for a while, all I have to do is open the folder that is marked Lillith or get the hard copy file and start reading. Before I know it, hours have passed and I feel better fo it. Thank you for all your efforts.
A thousand words
Thank you very much for your comments. I take them to heart and it fuels my desire to provide more stories in the future that I hope are equal or better than the last.
I get most of my inspiration from the images you see at the beginning of each story. The one I used for this was a Kristen Bell/Wonder Girl manipulation (the artist is credited at the end of the story)I just see the pic and write a story around it. A picture is worth a thousand words sort of thing, except with me it's worth 20,000 for this story.
Thanks again for your kind comments.

Oh for Goddess sakes
... Between Sci-Fi, Comicons, Otakons and Trans conventions, you can scoop up followers by the thousand fold faster than you can say Hera wears army boots ( well better than Jack Robinson and why in the world would you say Jack Robinson anyway? ) ! Oh, and have her scry for subterranean followers, like say 8 feet below ground level in Single Family houses, lots of rich pickings there!
Yeah, try to help those on the verge ( like Chris ) as needed but go for the easy pickings first. This sounds like it's going to be fun!
Kim
ComicCon '10
Can't you just see her at ComicCon '10 in San Diego and Southern Comfort in Atlanta. "Behold! I am your goddess. Worship me and I will make your desires come true."
Sports stores across the world would be running out of jockstraps and footballs. They'd have to end the game altogether.
That might be a bad thing at CC though. Can you imagine her getting drunk on power and turning all the Cosplayers into their costumes. Furries galore! Manga Madness! X-Men out the Wazoo!
Hmm, there's a story in there somewhere.

Yes and no for Southern Comfort
where the Trans politicos come to roost, not to mention all of the service providers pushing their wares and emptying pocket books faster than George Bush rushing into Iraq. I have a funny feeling that they would all try to turn her potential followers against her.
But hey, nothing ventured, nothing gained, I say!
Well, I am glad I brought a little aMusement to your writing efforts!

This I consider the highest praise! Oh, and I think yeah, maybe Meriel and Cass will have a little, ahem, 'conflict of interests', but what's stopping them from dividing the field a little. After all, was it not said Cass mostly got calls on that venue from certain cities? Just cut a deal that for the time being it's okay for Meriel to help if Cass did not hear it. And Meriel still has to advertise on Cass' behalf.
Hmmm, was there a god of shape changes?

Ares Bane + The Thorn In Ares Side
Hi Lili
As you can see i have been on something of a Lili readathon, And i have to say that i have enjoyed every minute of it, Your stories just keep on getting better by the chapter
Loved the character of Cassandra, She seems to bring to the world of the Greek Gods a view from the modern world....After all if you had been around a few thousand years wouldn't you be a little out of touch!!
Ares...Mmmm now there is someone i would not like to meet down a dark alley, Seems like the sort of god best left alone Cassandra had better watch out for him, Her brother seems like bad news!
And as for Zeus..... Well lets just say Cassandra had better hope not to meet him on anything other than good terms.
Sister Artemis or should we call her Missy (it's easier)seems to be like the sister we would all like, Again though, Not some one to cross , After all look what happened to Aesara....
So i guess now, We can look forward to Cassandra joining forces with Veronica , And then let battle commence.....Its going to be intrersting, But in your hands Lili, Very enjoyable
Hugs Kirri

Since she's not Wonder Girl in this story, probably not. But she is a goddess, maybe she'll pop over to the Recton Universe and make an appearance.

Hum, what about servants, a side kick?
She spared the huntress's life and restored her to Artemis good graces so she has earned the respect of them.
Hum, with the comic book geeks and the TG crowd in her purview this implies she is much of the reason behind the rapid rise of the new Amazons. Her nudging things at the right times would greatly aid Veronica in finding potential converts to the Amazons.
Like how Artemis is more *normal* around her half sister than she is around Veronica and the other Amazons but then Cassie was essentially a human until recently and thus understands the modern world so much better than her powerful*aunt*/sister. She is also Artemis's half sister and much belovd by her so Artemis would try to make her feel comfortable thus the downtoearthness and less imperial tone than what she uses with the Amazons.
What of the huntress that was glamoured to be her dad, what became of her? She would seem a likely mentor/servant to aid Cassie in her probationary period though she may well find a mentor among her worshippers. Accidental goddess-hood has been done before here, Grover has a nice short story that way. I see how for Cassandra it makes sense, the *accident* of her goddesshood -- though Artemis all but shouted YESI DID IT when Cassandra implied that she had manipulated things to make her half sister an immortal god. If she is to be the god of misfits -- comic book/geeks and of TG it is logical she comes from a confused life. I'll make that clear.
To understand misfits and the downtrodden one needs to empathize and she can surely do that given her own background. To the downtrodden add women at least as Ares followers have mistreated them, thus her being a co-goddess patron of the Amazons. Very cunning her sister Artemis is, isn't she. And don't be surprised if Zeus doesn't know and approve. Ares followers, the Scourge did kill his lover after all. What better way to get revenge for her death than by planting the seed of it in his own daughter and make it look to all like he had nothing to do with it. He does seem very forgiving towards his new goddess daughter Cassandra though Zeus and the Greek gods always were mercurial.
Very gifted is our author.

Divinity is gender neutral?
How can a confection even have a gender?
-- snicker --
BTW I wonder did Cassandra help encourage the geek crowd at school to talk with the new Amazon, Veronica, and thus bring her her first convert, Paris? A little nudge, a hint of devine inspiration at the right time and ...
And as Ares loses worshippers and Artemis and Cassandra gain them the balance of power on Olympus will shift.
Hm, what do Artemis's other siblings think about Cassandra and the Amazons or the other senior gods like Hera, Posidion, Hades?
Childhood, parenthood, neighborhood, godhood, goddesshood. Simple.
Now Artemis is a virgin goddess by definition and sees Cassandra as the child she never can have but is Cassandra trapped that way? Can she have offspring? And what of the Amazon's as a whole once the Scourge are gone? Not all are lesbian, many may wish for families.
Yikes this creating literary *worlds* is complicated!

Filling Gaps in the Pantheon
It's nice to see a story about a goddess for people like me/us. I'm still an avid comics reader -- Terry Moore's, Echo, is awesome! -- and last I checked, I was still transgendered. *giggle*
I especially like Cassie's compassion. I hope she can hang on to it over the millennia.
I wonder if there are any other areas where a new god or goddess could gather enough followers to keep in power. I'm sure there are.
Thanks very much for the story.

No rest for Wicked and the Good don't need any. (rest that is)
Lil,
Another great addition to your series. I saw this on Friday, but real life got in the way of reading it. But, as always, it was worth the wait.
Cassie seems have been hung out there in "power space" with little direction. Fortunately, she doesn't seem to take after her brother or sister. Talk about power trips. Can't wait for her to seriously irritate Ares and to see the reaction.
Talk about growing up fast. One week she is is a guy, then changing to a girl, then a Godling and last, but certainly not least, a Goddess. Now she is feeling her way along and still doesn't know who she is the Goddess of. (sorry about the preposition) It certainly looks like she will bring a new attitude to the Parthenon.
We just need to know what she wanted to be when she was twelve. I think that is going to be interesting and a fun ride.
As always,
Dru
As always,
Dru
Brava!
Once again I am in awe of your ability to make the surreal mundane. Cassandra is believable, interesting, and just over the top enough to be fantastic. Honestly, I like her better than the Amazons or Artemis. She makes a niche and sticks to it, making me wonder about the symbolism and how she ties into the greater world.
I hope this isn't the last we see of her.
Thank you
As a wonder girl fan I'm glad that you let her become the super hero at the end.
Good story, slightly weak opening
The opening was a little cliched -- we've read lots of stories where a young guy finds out about his magical or otherworldly heritage and simultaneously becomes a girl -- but once Cassandra and Artemis arrived in Olympus, it got a lot more interesting and less predictable. The concept of the protagonist becoming the patron goddess of comic book geeks is a nifty one, as is the process of her figuring out what she's patron of.
