Great fun
Yup. I like fae, pixies, elementals far more and better than those creatures of doom and gloom. For me preferably no darkness ruling the land, no teeth and fangs gleaming in the moonlit night.
So I read this every new chapter you put out here, as soon as I can get my hands on them.
But, that doesn't mean I ~want~ you to dedicate your favourable and worthy abilities to these. Write away and add to the other side of the realm, there are many fans waiting. Just not me. Not right now.
Probably when you've finished that particular story I will still read it. But only when the sun is high and the nights are warm and tender, promising sweet romantic nothings.
But this chapter was wonderful. Light and frolic, thank you.

10,000 words a day
This story broke a new record for me at a hair's breadth from 10,000 words in one day. It was another one of those. "I have to get it out and right now," type stories.
So no worries. I like to shuttle between the dark and the light. (wink)

Lilith?
How do you do it? Wonderful, delightful, charming, funny; if it was like that with all men I could possibly tolerate having one around from time to time.
35 days? I don't know if that would be better or worse. No time to get used to the changes. New maternity clothes everyday. Good thing she's the Queen, could get expensive otherwise. At least Bridget won't be making her wear a corset!

Wardrobe malfunction
Shaylee's Lady's Maid must be pulling her hair out right about now. First she turns blue and now she's pregnant. It could get very expensive. LOL

Give her a chance
Give her a chance to get her feet on the ground before cursing her with repetative pregnancies. So far she keeps falling over backwards and sticking them in the air. Must have round heels from all those years of wearing stilts. ;-)
Kinda figured the blue skin would either go away on command or she could use a little glamour to look human.
Hey, had a thought! Do the Fae have fairy-sized babies? Sure would make that 35 day pregnancy easier to do.

Helplessly Giggled, but goood!
Well, you sure started my morning off happily. No, it wasn't as good a SEX, but I laughed so hard that I would have fallen out of the chair were it not for the arms on it!
Unhuh, unhuh, gasp.
I do hope that you continue this series, all the pain of this comminouttransition thing gets old; need a break sometimes. :)

I love it!
This particular story just feeds the nerd in me. I love fantasy settings, and you just described everything perfectly. I love magic ^_^
Poor Shaylee is trying her best to keep up, but it seems it's just one surprise after another. One week ago she was male, and in 4 more she'll be a mother? Talk about being rushed!
At the very least, she'll be able to pass her throne or royalty or whatever, "once her kids come of age". Of course that's the tricky part....how long does it take for a Fae to come of age? I'm guessing she's in for at least another surprise!
I really don't mind you having 3 stories running at once, as I love each of them. If they keep the writer's blocks away, then it's all good!
Don't hurt your wrists writing!

Magic is a tricky thing
Luckily magical births don't leave stretch marks, otherwise Shaylee would be in a serious mess. Can you imagine gaining 30 pounds in 5 weeks?
I'll be covering Fae aging in the next story, so no hints on that one.
The next story will be taking place in both worlds. I left a hint in the story as to why, but it's so obscure that I doubt that anyone will notice it.
My wrists are okay for the moment. Even after writing so much yesterday. Weird.

I can't ask how do you do it because someone else already has. This is a nice blending of legends and pop-culture. I liked the whole thing about the Queen and the land being linked. Makes you wonder just why Morgan did not go to the Fae. Was it just not wanting to be blue?
I must admit I have a soft spot for feisty heroines!

Land-locked
The Land and Queen was a little take off from Arthurian legend. The King and the Land were as one also. When Arthur died... or was whisked off to Avalon, Briton went back to war.
Morgan: She was too hung up learning her Sorceress Magic. In her view it was more powerful than Faerie Magic. She just didn't care about the Fae except for what they could do for her.

I saw FQFL on "Random 5olos", read it, then this, and will continue with the other three published to date once I've posted this.
Please continue - it'll be interesting finding out what other misadventures Shaylee gets up to while attempting to catch up on 1,000+ years of missed fae history / biology / sociology / politics / magic / parenting etc... :)

Twins in only Five weeks?... So if Shaylee is nearly immortal, Then she's certainly going to have to remember an awful lot of birthdays!!!
I was quite surprised to see another faerie queen episode posted so quickly, {not that i'm complaining }...Lili you must be wearing your fingers to the bone!
It was also nice to find out more about the legend of the fae...Now all we need is somebody nasty so Shaylee can show us what she's really made of!
Lili thanks for sharing once again your talent for storytelling, Hopefully if your fingers are not too sore, we can read more about Shaylee very soon!

ME ? Fae? Fey? :)
I met a woman at one of those solstice dances, and she did my Tarot cards. Well, I don't take any of that seriously but we were all having fun, and I was not about to call her an infidel. She described me as Fey and I just smiled and thanked her with out knowing what she was talking about. She seemed to like me a lot and we had a wonderful time.
I'm Post Op, living as a woman, and make a lot of effort to dress well.
It seemed that she was using it in a positive light. But I am not sure if I should use that term to describe myself.

Granted that was probably a one time thing.
When I write I usually write until I need to think about the next scene, or when my hands hurt too much. This one just poured out of me, and I had some Alieve. I knew exactly where I wanted to go with it the entire time. Which scares me, because I know exactly where I want the next story to go as well, and it will probably be even longer than this particular story. We'll see

Great story!!
I'm VERY much enjoying this storyline Lily! Please do continue it! I can't wait to see what happens next.
Loved It!
Can't wait for part three! (Is it done yet? *sigh*)
Anyway, a couple of questions;
Did Morgan compile a bunch of Grimories for the spells she created from her Sorcery research? After all, the spell she used on Gnack isn't going to be undone until someone actually finds out what the spell was.
I can just picture it; to find the spell used on Gnack Shaylee asks if Morgan had a Grimorie for her spells and is taken to Morgan's Huge library. As Shaylee asks where the Grimorie is among all the books, her guide spreads her arms to encompass the entire room. After all, Morgan would have been at this a looong time, centuries longer than she has been Queen. And of course all her research would be spell protected, so Shaylee would have to read through all of them herself. :)
Shaylee's Earth magic was of great help in healing the World of Faerie, so could Shaylee use it back on Earth to heal some/all of the damage that has been done through industrial pollution and deforestation, and to the Rain Forests and Oceans, etc.?
I've been trying to imagine the kinds of political and religious furor that might be unleashed if Shaylee's Earth magic was even just 1/10 as effective at healing the Earth's ecosystem as it was with Faerie. :)
This was a really great story! Looking forward for more.
Not Quite
Not quite done yet... plotted yes. And you've skirted some of the ideas for the next story.
I can just imagine what a library of work over a thousand years would look like. Maybe we lucked out and it's on her laptop... nah, that'd be too easy. I think it's say that the search will be long and hard not to mention having to learn how to do spells. Will she have a learning curve because her body is the same as Morgan's or is it a mental thing? In which case she'd have to learn from scratch. Answers ahead.
The answer to whether Fae magic works in the normal world is yes. They used to live here after all. The only reason they left is because man was growing in population.
Religion.... hehe.

Wonderful story
It sort of reminds me of another favorite story of mine, Morpheus' "The Excalibur Principle." While I was kind of hoping for another chapter to "What Transpires at Night," you've provided a great alternative. I wish I could give more specific praise, but I'm terrible at critiquing things like plot and story, so you'll just have to settle with "I really like it."
Does the Bonding always pair male and female, or is less fickle about that? I imagine a world where the latter is true would have almost no concept of homosexuality versus heterosexuality. Would Fae even have sexual orientation one way or the other, or would they all be bisexual? Would there still be a slight inclination towards heterosexual coupling, if for no other reason than propagation of the species? Of course, if Fae are extremely long-live yet have a very short gestation period, there may be no need for clear sexual orientation for the survive of the species. Damnit, now I'm trying to apply scientific reasoning to what is essentially a fantasy realm. You'd think D&D would have taught me that doesn't work to well. :P
On a more technical side, I noticed to made numerous punctuation errors, mostly in the form of missed commas and periods that should have been question marks. There was also the errant quotation mark or two. There were also a few cases where a paragraph suddenly switched tenses without any reason or indication. I know these are rather frivolous mistakes, especially in light of the fact that I've not really offered any constructive criticism regarding what you *did* do right, but I tend to really notice these things and they can literally kill my ability to enjoy, or even read, a story. This isn't to say I found your story unreadable, as my previous praise should clearly indicate. I'll hazard the guess that you were in such a hurry to get this out there, or were so burned out after writing nearly 10,000 words in a day (!) that you missed a lot of mistakes you would otherwise have noticed. I'll end that here, as I have already spent far to much time on a subject that is relatively minor in the big picture.
Keep up the good work!
Reality
Saying "I like it" is fine. I understand, sometimes unless you take notes, you just get a general feeling of "I like it" at the end of a story. And one of the big reasons you read isn't to take notes.
Questions:
Bonding: Yes, only M/F bond and it's to propagate the species since they immediately have a sexual response that results in being pregnant. That's not to say F/F or M/M isn't possible. It is. They just wont be bonded. The way that I'm taking this is that not everyone is going to find the person that they are bonded to. It took Collice over 400 years to find her mate. But I wouldn't call it super rare, just uncommon. As a whole I would guess that about a third of the population has a decent potential of being bonded in their lifetime.
The D&D application: I've noticed that in a lot of the stories I've read that the author usually shoots in the Magic equation for inconsistencies in the physically-understood universe. I'm going to try not to do this. In this world there is a scientific reason for magic to work. Call it mind-over-matter or whatever. Fae are the next step in evolution that got whammied when they left the Human world. Something along those lines. So the "well it's magic" excuse isn't going to fly for me. If you see an inconsistency then it's a mistake. OR, it's just something that isn't understood at this time. Kind of like FTL travel in Sci-Fi.
Thanks for pointing out the mistakes, or the notice of them. I'll look over the chapter again.
Lili

I suspect her pregancy will be longer than that
Morgan was half fae, Shay was a fraction fae.
Thus she is at most a little over half fae. That implies her gestation period will be somewhere in between. Since she is slightly more fae than human, say four months IE a little less than half a human gestation.
As to her incredible magic abilities, that needs explanation. Was there a synergy, a catalytic effect of her being formerly a weakly fae man taking over Morgan's half fae, magically powerful body? Is there any legend or a prophecy that predicted her existence? Will this influence her aging, will it be more like a full fae or even slower? As to a magic library, Morgan’s would be large BUT she was a woman stuck in a rut or so it seems to me and might have stuck with *tried and true* *recipes*.
And they say a pregnant woman *Blooms* or has a *glow*.. With Shaylee it’s literal, IE the blue and pink flowers on the tree and where she walked in fairyland. If she really is pissed at the tree for tricking her she could always threaten it with a chainsaw.
Very funny and romantic.
John in Wauwatosa
John in Wauwatosa
Being Fae
True Morgan was half-Fae and that's whose body Shaylee is occupying currently, making her half-Fae. Her old male body was diluted to probably a minor fraction and is of no consequence since that blood is not flowing through her veins anymore.
However, since her interaction with the Land in Faerie she was bombarded with Faerie magic. Think of it in terms of radioactivity exposure. It has saturated every cell in her body and transformed her into a full blooded Fae. Blue skin, Earth magic and all. Even Morgan didn't have any Fae magic or very little because she was more powerful as a Sorceress.
So keeping that in mind Shaylee will progress through normal Fae childbirth. No surprises there. She'll have enough on her plate.
Morgan. We know little about at this point, but we do know that she experiments with magic, having invented these magical doorways to everywhere, her necklace of protection, Gnack's weird Glamour sex change spell. I'd say that maybe she was sidetracked in her goal for immortality and it was ironic that all she had to do was her duty as Queen and she would have had it.
Thanks for commenting John!

Confused
In the story or in real life?
I remember your comment from earlier so I'll go with that one. Like most things I suppose it would be interpreted in the context in which it was used. If the person was nice to you then I suppose she or he thought it was cute/effeminate/pixie-like or elf-like/etc. I would consider it a compliment.
If in a mean context they thought that you were a "fag". Cruel but true.
