I don't know, this seems too
I don't know, this seems too good to be true. I mean aren't orphans treated rather crappy normally? Just another burden on the national budget that takes away money that could be used for wars and tax reductions for the rich? ;)
I wonder where the money for this rather extravagant orphan home comes from.
Thank you for writing this interesting story, I wonder what wll happen next,

How the Academy came to be :-)
And the possibility of corporate sponsorships in the near future. ;-)
Massive spoilers ahead re: the school's history, so I'm going to white them out, but you can highlight the rest if you want. There's nothing here that won't be reposted in the story or on the wiki at some point though. :-)
{Highlight to read} The story behind the Academy is that during the 70s it was a public high school. Due to economic downturn though, the decision was made by the state of Connecticut to close the school and bus all students to the other school - hence the old name Northside High.
A group of wealthy investors decided to "rescue" the school and privatize it as a town historical monument. The school is one of the oldest buildings in Alpine Springs, so they invested heavily to modernize it (by 1970s standards). Thirty years later, under the oversight of Headmistress Bethany Anderson, the school began a second wave of modernization and began taking in "strays" from the foster care system in addition to continuing to accept normal students as any other private boarding school.
They're still in the process of expanding the campus facilities and athletic programs, including breaking ground on a corporate-sponsored Student Union where boys/girls can co-mingle without having to leave campus.
That's the mundane version anyway. ;-)
Too good to be true?
In almost any other story, it would be. However, the head of the school happens to be the persona of love, recruited by The Universe. When you know someone who can rewrite the rules of the universe, you don't exactly need to worry about income :)
Then just to add a little more intrigue, while Bethany adopts the form of a 20-something woman while wearing her "Director of Sunshine Academy" hat, she's known better as adopting the form of a 12-year old when hanging out with Robin, Sarah and their gangs - while Faith has also put in the occasional appearance as an 11-year old.
As for how the staff know Casey is TG? Read the first few paragraphs of Chapter 1 again! :) That also reveals exactly how the pills will make Casey fit in better (hint: they're a bit more high-tech than your average HRT).
As the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, then only left-handers are in their right mind!
Notice that:
Also notice in --it Happens, and ANL, it is the Coven (Eva Crowley (See FMAoSaS for her status), Isabella Wilder, Lily-Rose Morgan, Micia Jewel (Also see FMAoSaS for her status)) who do the part of Social Services, not the actual state Social Services department. They not leaving anything to chance and/or red tape. Faith has plans for these girls, though she usually keeps those plans to herself.
Oh k... I guess I really need
Oh k... I guess I really need to catch up on the robin verse. When I feel like real life stuff I read the first story, but it is really long :)
Anyway, when was magic introduced? I think I'm 2/3 through the first robin story and their is no indication of magic at all.
Give you a hint, BR Book 1
Give you a hint, BR Book 1 First few chapters, it's not in your face, but if you know how to read it, you will see it :)

Becoming Robin is told from
Becoming Robin is told from Robin point of view, and since she is not an user* she don't see the magic.
* Spoiler: {Highlight to read} Ok, Robin is a Magic user, but she doesn't know it.
Exactly :-)
The original intent when I wrote Book 1, was to present the concept of the supernatural as one possibility, with semi-logical explanations that Robin uses to explain the events. It happens a few times, but in each case it's extremely subtle.
{SPOILER: Highlight to read} The first time it happens is when the rain storm hits in chapter 1. She cries, and it starts raining :-)
I like to keep the core story grounded in reality, and use the side-stories to explore the more fanciful and fun side of the Robinverse. That said I am plannin to write another non-magic story to oppose Robin's point of view. I'm not sure if I'll write it first or third person yet because I still need to finish the next Robin chapter before I tackle anymore projects ;-)
good job.
the girls are settling in fine so far. the only big problem I have is a two person room with two bathrooms, you would not even get that in a luxury hotel.
the talk with Bethany ought to be intresting. good chapter, thanks
They designed those dorm
They designed those dorm rooms to be extremely comfortable to the students this school is better then a 5 star hotel ;)
