Except for the very obvious age difference, my first thought was her father was the old lore keeper Leo. But that doesn't work. My next is that the unknown cloaked man is her father and protecter. Just how many of these men in black can infiltrate this town before they are really noticed? There are a ton of unknown, new residents floating around to be the bad guys. And how tricky, killed by silver arrows in a dark alley? Kewl. I'm surprised the arrows didn't just zip right on through, over- penetrating the bad guys, to vanish safely taking all evidence with them. Mom is pretty calm, already knowing about the best food, and how handy, a bottle of bubble bath in her hands. Everyone but the kid seems to know a lot more of what is going on than they are hinting at. Hawkins, and Ravens, and crows....there has to be some connection in all the predator birds here. Another type of lesser were about to be introduced?

Does any one else feel a bit weirded out by the fact that someone who just got pulled into an alley by 4 thugs, beaten, knifed, threatened with death and then watched 3 of them murdered would blindly open the door and not check who it is first?
