These people seem to have had a power boost from somewhere, one wonders what or who it is, and has Aelrea returned? Keep your head down, Serena, an ex-goddess could get into big trouble here.

Since it was your posting of chapter 7 that led to me of your discovery of you as an author. So far I've read Felicia's Second Life and the first 3 chapters of this story. And, YAY, you have so many other stories for me to read too. I love it when I discover an awesome author.
Some Sort of Explosive?
Some kind of technology that trumps all the game levels the way a gun can beat even the most skillful of swordsmen before he gets close enough to attack?
Don't know whether that's consistent with the premise here, but it was the first thing that came to my mind when the story talked about the smoothness of the hole.
Anyway, if Aelrea was slain, then Serena may be here to replace her. In any case, she doesn't have to worry about infringing on the "real" goddess.
