Ojibwe Princesses
oh sure, make me want to become a Ojibwe princess, why dont you!
:P
Of course you're going to be a princess!
And maybe an astrophysicist, too.
Disappointed, but
I don't suppose the medical visitors were too surprised. Really, Dr. Mitchell. What did you expect? I wonder at the future for Mrs. Winter, and will she find a closer relationship with River and the people in her future.
Luv - babies can do amazing things, this one just fixed a house, did she not.

good chapter
nice chapter. Great work, I really enjoy reading this story.

Family and community values
Family and community values continue to improve for River's group and the First nations in general. Great premise.
Lisa Stromen?
Just how important was Lisa to Ricky? (And Ricky to her?) Seems like she's the only person linked to him that ever comes up.
How will she handle him being River now, or her life as the rivertalker?
Lisa
I tried to get across, when Mark saved Lisa from the attackers in the mall, that while Ricky considered Lisa a best friend, she didn't really feel the same way about him. He just had her. She has many other friends. She really won't appear in the story much more. River has written her a letter to let her know that she is transgender and will be living in the north as a girl. Her reaction to this is not in the story.

Making a story work.
Commenting on a story is something I don't often do.
It's not that I don't like the story.
I want the author to grow and find the storyline without my interference.
Your story of the growth of a young person into a leader is absorbing and written by someone with a passion for justice and community.
I find that simply wonderful. You tell the story with love amd care.
Keep doing it.
Authors
We authors live for comments. I don't pretend to speak for everyone, but I have yet see an exception.
OK, one exception, but he turned off comments.
I know that, in my case, comments often turn into ideas that appear in the story later.
Pronoun Trouble
Hi Ray! If you're talking about me (I block comments for my stories), please don't use male pronouns when referring to me. Don't be a meanie. :p
I've explained why I don't want comments but I'll repeat myself again. I don't like public criticism. I've never handled it well. It upsets me and actually discourages me from writing. I don't mind it in private messages but I don't like it public.
We should never forget that there are always exceptions.

Some don't
I stopped posting at Fictionmania because of the vicious comments of some people. It seems better lately, as I noticed reading comments on Leslie Moore's Wildcats episodes. I don't think you can turn comments off there.

Sorry
I didn't mean to use the wrong pronoun. I should have asked you how you wish to present.
And I can understand about nasty comments. The worst I got was on the MORFS site about Incomplete Without You. It seems that Marvin had been living a charmed life. Terrible, I know...
Forgiveness
Maybe I should've sent you a private message about it but I felt I should correct it in case someone else knew who you were talking about and started a trend. :)
Anyway, you are forgiven. How could I not forgive you? I'm a very forgiving person. :)
*hug*

Kids need to be trained in all areas.
I wish I had been trained to cook.
Girls and Boys should learn enough to take care of themselves and any family they may have.
I have been eating bachelor cooking since I left home. My brother cooked for his wife and kids some or most of the time.
Please continue this story for as long as you can keep it going.
Thank you.

The story
I am starting to see the end of the story coming up. There are still at least 15 or 20 more chapters though.
Dawn
Shame it has to end
I can see River is a much beloved character by the readers here. A serial similar to some other very long running stories on the site is possible IMO. It could be sectioned off into books and published on Amazon too. There should be a market for a well written wholesome story where people respect and help each other.
The story must end
But that doesn't mean the characters will be gone forever. I hope to write short standalones featuring Mark, Luv, and maybe other characters as well. I have already started planning a super epilogue chapter.
Dawn
So many wonderful characters here
that a lot of us readers will feel like we're saying goodbye to friends, and be sad for it; But a good ending coming at just the right point in a good plotline makes it a book, a film, a comics story line or a TV show a work of art (also more commercially viable)
And for those who just can't say goodbye to River + her extended family, and especially since a lot of us are writers... there's always FAN FICTION!!!! (which it's not cool to post if it's not an open universe, but that don't mean it can't be written for one's personal enjoyment.)
~hugs, Veronica
for the axe had convinced them that because his handle
was made of wood he was one of them.
This chapter is interesting NOT boring

Hunting means animal hides. The girls can learn to make traditional clothing from hides.
Ginny's house
I love the idea of a Ginny's house on each reservations.

When I was a child........
I was a member of the Y Indian Guides. It was something like scouting, but was more based upon Native American guidelines. The program was started in the 1920's with the help of a Ojibwa hunting guide named Joe Friday.
There are three programs - Guides, Maidens, and Princesses.
Unfortunately, since everyone thought I was a boy I was stuck in the Guides.

Thanks
I did not know about that group, and immediately Googled it. It seems to have fallen victim to political correctness, and cultural misappropriation, which I hope to work into a future chapter. (Hope that is not considered a spoiler).

PS: By the way, everyone, you have met the quota for comments (and exceeded it) so look forward to another chapter on Sunday morning.
Looking for....
Hmmm looking for the sign up sheet.. I want to be a Ojibwe Princess =]
I love the story, every chapter always seems to bring a grin to my face, thank you for letting us follow along in River's journey!!

Motivational
That Luv is definitely motivational... Making the girls work for an opportunity to spend time with Beloved makes her motivation increase. Such a great way to get the younger kids looking forward to helping out someone in need.
A wise person
The Rive talker (AKA River) is a VARY wise person the River wanted to cure the mother (Mrs. Winter) right then. HOWEVER River explained the dangers in that and the river gave Mrs. Winter & River to comunicate almost teapathicly.
River's idea of a girls club is a VERY good idea & then Marilyn came up with the idea of a Genny house so in all its a GROUP project not just Rivers & not just Marilyn's but one had the idea of a club the other for a place to hold it.
Love Samantha Renée Heart.
I really love this story, and
I really love this story, and I especially like how it is focused on a First Nations group, the Ojibwe right now. So many other Nations and/or Tribes, both those in Canada and the United States have their own stories to be told. I could actually see this story becoming the first of a series which features a different group in a story.
Another fantastic part
I was reading this since part 1 and commented regularly. This story keep getting better and better.. thnx for sharing...
