"emotionally you are holding yourself back.”
yeah, I can understand that urge ...
Can't blame him
After Cozier's insinuation, I wouldn't blame our protagonist for holding back emotionally. Tormenting an internally conflicted person is just wrong, and I do not think Cozier realizes just what he is causing mentally.
Hmm.
I had a flash of a possible sub-scene at this point in the story:
= = =
As Cozier walked back to his desk, to continue with the second half of class, I suddenly wondered if he might be flirting with me. Or actually, with Andrew. Since his little barbs had been just between he and I, I decided to see what would happen if I upped the ante, so to speak.
I stood up and said "OK, I've made up my mind. At least for the time being, I'm not interested in dating you. Or any other gay guy."
I sat and waited for the splat when the stuff flying off of the fan hit the wall. Is he really gay? Does it matter? I was beginning to wonder if I might have gone too far.

I don't care how good Cozier
I don't care how good Cozier thinks he is, he is a total ass and should NOT be a teacher at any level of education. He is confrontational with his students, as well as being a belittling person, which does not help the growth of students who are learning. Hopefully, another teacher is going to witness his actions and comments and help to take him down more than a peg or two.
He is also a sexist, homophobe individual that needs to be stepped on.
Andrew/Andrea
Is getting more & more complicated as time goes on. I hope he/she takes the time to figure out who he/she is

These people are so far out
These people are so far out of touch with what they are dealing with that the mind boggles. Granting they don't know that he/she has just been offered more money than they probably make, but they don't even realize that Andrew/Andrea fall into the category of "Celebrity". Andrea is recognized everywhere and travels all over for promotions. Besides that they don't know her voice is being recruited for choir which will generate social interaction.
Andrew is totally striaght. So he only dates girls. Andrea dating is difficult. If she dates a girl she is percieved as lesbian which she has done. So that is possible as it allows Andrew/Andrea to co-exist. Date a boy and she is percieved as gay as Andrew has held strong to the position that he is still Andrew. If Andrea can be confused by a kiss from a boy then that is a problem too. So let's go on a date with a boy you don't know? What the heck? And when he's asked, how is he dressed? He's dressed as Andrew! What is Debbie thinking?
Sure go ahead and give Dr. Cozier real ammunition!
I sincerely hope Andrew thinks really hard and long about this. The adults are really out of the loop on this.
Simple quickly can become...
...complicated. I enjoy our guest's insights. People aren't so much in the dark, as they would know more than what the story tells. But it reflects well for Andrew/Andrea and people that one might relate to more actively.
Hugs for everyone's comments and kudos,

Just want to be me
How is Andrew/Andrea to be "me" when so many are advising to do this or that? And when a so called teacher is so jealous of Andrews designs that he has to resort to belittling Andrew/Andrea.
Andrew is comfortable being either Andrew or Andrea. Is happy designing clothes. Beyond his designing, he hasn't consciously seen a need for anything else. But does consider things when they're brought to his attention.
Andrew wants just to be him/her self, but first needs to learn just who the person Andrew/Andrea actually is. So the suggestions he's receiving will help in this area.
Cozier needs to be caught in the act of his actions against Andrew/Andrea. That way he can't make excuses for his actions. Andrew/Andrea really need to tell mom what's going on, since Cozier may have done this kind of thing before.
The one thing questionable about the new contract is the part which would keep him from designing for others. Were it me, that's one thing which would be removed from the contract. Pay me to use my designs, but don't tell me who I can and can't design for. What I would put into the contract is the right to terminate the contract at any time if inferior quality material is used instead of the material specified. And they would still have to pay a percentage of anything they sold using his label.
Others have feelings too.
What an asshole
Cozier's comments are totally crossing the line. I feel he is either trying to put Andrew/Andrea off her game so he can flunk him or worse he really does want to pimp him out to gay men for his own personal profit or maybe both. Andrew/Andrea has to tell mum and the school administration now or this could escalate to something far darker. As far as a social life Andrea is getting out and relaxing now and then, but when Andrew wants to go out they outright refuse unless it's Andrea going or make Andrew feel so unwanted and under appreciated that he is left little choice but to go as Andrea. Case in point he is at the meeting as Andrew and Debbie sets up a date with a boy Josh who is socially awkward not a girl, who is she trying to help, looks to me like it's Josh not Andrew.

The classic error in thinking by gays
Sexual identity dictate whether you are gay or not.
