Reginald's Mom Knows that Petra is Fate's chew toy!

Doesn't really matter if Mrs. Stirling likes Petra or not. Her son, and now her as well, are firmly in Fate's sight. Like Blood Wing's mother, there's not a whole lot she can do now, except hang on and hope they survive without too much damage.

Yep. If Petra and her friends learn what's going on too early, they might get clever and find a way to spoil her fun. Better to let them run around in circles for as long as possible.
And it's so much better if Petra learns she's Fate's chew toy on her own. It will help build up her self confidence, research skills, and logic.

Either fate isn't trying that hard or Petra's luck isn't as bad as she thinks it is, after all she continues to get lucky and survive her encounters.

If Fate let her chew toy die too easily, or become a brainwashed slave, or lose so much they just give up, it wouldn't be fun.
Throwing her into insane situations, seeing how she struggles to survive or overcome the challenges, and giving her 'fun' ways of surviving, keeps the game interesting.
If she just wanted Petra dead, there are plenty of amusing ways to do it, like getting hit by Roc poop, finding yourself in the middle of a professional Head-Breaks-Rock game, or annoying the local Ogres, but that would just get a short giggle at best, and Fate has seen and done all of that before. She's in it for the long term, by human standards at least.

And yeah, her messages tend to be rather blunt.
If I was the head of Doom Valley Prep
I'd give serious consideration to giving Petra a rigged final exam and graduating her with full honors. Quickly! SO FAR, Fate hasn't seriously damaged the school while playing with Petra. If Fate escalates the game, watch out for earthquakes, hurricanes, plagues, and tactical nukes brought in from technological universes. The repair bills from Petra's sojourn could far exceed her tuition fees.
