Vocabulary enhanced!
I had to look up 'sack truck' and 'doona' as both of these terms were new to me. Always good to add new words. I love the pace of this story. It has a very relaxing and comforting feel to it with just enough dramatic tension to keep the narrative flowing.
I love expanding my vocabulary
I already knew a sack truck was a dolley or hand truck here in the USA. Doona was a knew one for me but was able to infer it was a comforter or duvet by the context, I did look it up to be sure after finishing the story and reading the previous comment. Loving this story it is so good can't wait for the next installment.

What a fabulous house! And what fabulous people and friends. What I really liked is that Julia and Jeff did all the work themselves, well, with just a little help! But they didn't delegate it.
People in shops and stores were delighted to see film stars and will undoubtedly bask in reflected glory when they tell the folks at home.
The more of this that you write, Marianne, the more I like it...and we're still only half-way through.
