So, was meandering through my memories, and thought about a story I read ages ago. It went something like This:
Guy is heavy CD/Trans questioning, is a solitary sole and is somewhat new age and has a Bastet statue he found ages ago, but befriends a small injured cat that shows up on his fire exit window one day. Feeds it, tends its wounds, and the cat finds a home. A little later in the story, an evil spirit is attracted to the cat or him, not sure and attacks. The small cat defends our MC and badly hurt which causes MC to try to defend the cat from the spirit. As (s)he is losing the battle MC asks for help, any help to protect the cat, not thinking of himself. Seem to remember the Bastet statuette'e eyes glowing, transforming him into a female human cat form (cat-girl?) to protect the kitten, wnich she proceeds to save. Not sure of the rest. Any clues? TIA
Hugs

Looked at several stories by Grover but didn't match
Did a brief Search of Bastet here but no joy
I'll try some more
I swear I read something along the lines you wrote but can't remember the author

Bastet statue
I thought that "Bastet statue" might be a unique or low-frequency expression useful in searching, but I found out otherwise.
Any other information from the story? A name, phrase, expression? Is "evil spirit" an exact phrase? What about "fire exit window"?
Web site?
