The advantage of the “area rule” fuselage decades ago; it is essentially a “coke bottle” shape which is broader in the front (the nose or the “shoulders” where the wings attach), tapers to a narrower waist, and then broadens at the tail again. This is similar to the “hourglass” shape which many believe to be the ideal for women. Examples of this would be the Delta Dart, the B-1 Lancer, or the classic example of the Northrop F-5 Freedom Fighter/Tiger.
Based on this, it is not surprising that women cyclist are looking to pad their busts, thus increasing the “area rule” of their fuselage for improved aerodynamics, lol.

Quicker than I thought!
Cyclists are transonic? Optimising according to Whitcomb’s area rule shouldn’t give a performance benefit, as there’s no wave drag to consider (air at these speeds moves aside without shockwaves). It’s virtually all going to be parasitic drag.
On the plus side, boobs! It seems a 'bulbous fairing' is desirable, the way it is on wheel spats.

I’m baffled?
Are they saying that women with bigger boobs are more aerodynamic than less-well-endowed females? (Or males?) That seems horribly counterintuitive. I suppose the weight does not come into it because the racers are not ACTUALLY so well endowed but only filled out with padding.

On a racing motorcycle. The curved shape is more aerodynamic even though it presents a greater surface area from the front.
Or think of a raindrop drop - the teardrop shape is the most aerodynamic shape. Or you could consider it to be akin to the air dam on a muscle car nose blocking wind from getting under the car and channeling it to the sides.

This story is just more titillation for the media…
Consider that the cyclist is hunched over and air is being deflected down her front towards the legs. As the legs are constantly moving, with this excess air the airflow is becoming even more disturbed. The bigger bust deflects the air cleanly to the side around the body and keeps it away from the legs area.
One local paper summed this up as a storm in a D cup. Apparently there are to be more checks (can I have that job?) and any one caught will be busted.
