Misty was enjoying her boyfriend kissing her. They had gone out to dinner and a movie afterwards. After the movie, they went to a place where all the teenagers her age go to make out.
Misty had to keep reminding her boyfriend that she wasn’t going to have sex with him. Every time she felt his hands trying to undo her bra through her blouse, she pushed him away. When his hand tried to go down into her pants, she stopped him. The last straw was when he tried forcing himself on her. She punched him in the jewels.
When he backed off, she slapped him hard on the face and got out of his pickup truck. Her mother raised her to be careful and taught her to only have sex when she was ready. She watches as her boyfriend drives off, leaving her to walk back to town.
Misty pulls her cell phone out and tries to call her father or her aunt, but doesn’t have any reception. She starts walking down the road. She figures if she can get somewhere where she can get a signal, she will call. She wore her necklace that had the emergency locator built into it, but didn’t want to activate it.
As she is walking, she hears a loud crashing sound. She runs towards where she hears the crash and spots a motorcycle crashed on the side of the road and a person lying near the motorcycle. As she gets closer, she spots a biker with a gash on his forehead and blood flowing from it.
His right leg was bent at an odd angle, and she thought she saw bone poking out of the skin. She kneels beside him and tries to help him. She pulls her cell phone out again and gets a signal. She calls 911 and tells them about the accident.
The next person Misty calls is her aunt Julia. She tells her aunt where she is and what happened. Julia tells her to stay where she is, and she’ll be on her way. After Misty gets off the phone with her aunt. She goes back to try to keep the young man comfortable and alive till the paramedics arrive.
Misty notices that the young man was a member of a motorcycle club from the patches on his vest. According to the patch the young man was wearing, he was a member of the Iron Ravens MC. She stays with the young man until the paramedics and police arrive.
She steps aside to let the paramedics do their work. She watches as they stabilize the young biker and put him into the ambulance. Misty gives her account of what happened to the police officer who showed up. He stays with her until her aunt Julia arrives in her police SUV.
Her aunt Julia knew who the Iron Ravens were and where their clubhouse was located. Misty looks at her aunt, “Are we going to let his MC know?”
“Yes, I know who their leader is.” Julia had to stop a bar fight between the Iron Ravens and another MC that wanted to call Caldwell their territory.
Misty noticed Terror was in the back laying down. She turns around in her seat and reaches back to scratch between his ears. When she first arrived at the ranch, she feared the wolves. But over time, she came to love them.
Julia watches the road as Misty pets Terror in the back. When Misty turned back around in her seat, “So, what happened between you and your boyfriend?”
Misty looks at her aunt, “he started to become aggressive. He was forcing himself on me, after I said no and stopped.”
“What did you do?” Julia knew her sister would have taught Misty how to defend herself.
Among all the grandkids, Misty was the demurest, even after all the years Gina had raised her. She was also the hardest to piss off. However,
when Misty does get mad, she strikes out.
“I punched him in his groin and slapped him hard on his face.” Misty put a lot of her strength behind her slap.
“Ouch!” Julia knew how mad Misty could get.
Julia spots the old building that the Iron Ravens had taken over as their clubhouse. There were over fifty motorcycles parked in front of it. She could see men inside moving around. She pulls up and parks her SUV.
“You ready, Misty?”
“Yes, ma’am.” Misty normally would be nervous, but she had her aunt and Terror with her.
The two of them walk towards the entrance of the clubhouse. Terror was walking next to Misty. When they entered the clubhouse, every man inside stopped what they were doing.
The ones sitting at the long bar put their beers down and turned to look at Julia and Misty. The guys shooting pool and playing cards stopped and looked at them.
An older man with a salt and pepper beard looks at Julia, “What can I do for you, officer?”
Jake Morrison noticed that one of the local K9 officers had come into the clubhouse. He heard rumors about her and the huge wolf standing next to the dark-haired teenage girl.
“One of your members had an accident tonight and has been taken to Lowland General Hospital.”
“Are you sure it was one of our members?” Jake looks at Julia with an intensity that could melt snow.
“Yes, sir, my aunt is sure.” Misty pulls her cell phone out and shows a picture of the young man.
Jake looks at the young man and notices that it is Frank’s son. “Call Frank and let him know.”
Jake turns his attention back to Officer Bounty and the teenage girl standing next to her.
“Were you the one who found him, officer?”
“No, my niece was the one who found the young man.” Julia looks towards Misty.
Jake looks at the dark-haired girl and notices the blood on her clothes. “Thank you. What is your name, if you don’t mind me asking?”
In a soft voice, “Misty Marie Bounty.”
Jake noticed that the teenage girl was running her fingers through the fur of the huge wolf standing next to her. All the bikers in the room saw how big the wolf was and how Misty was running her finger through his fur. None of them has ever seen a wolf so big.
“Thank you for letting us know.” Jake knew Julia didn’t have to come in person to tell them.
“Any time.” Julia smiles at the men.
All the men watched as Julia and Misty turned and left. Julia leads Misty and Terror back to her SUV.
“Thanks, Auntie.”
“You’re welcome, sweetie.”
Julia drops Misty at Gina’s house and then heads home. Tonight was the first time she had been inside the clubhouse. It gave her a good idea of who the men were since arriving in Caldwell.
Misty walks into the house past her curfew, but she had texted her father to let him know. She heads upstairs to her bedroom and strips out of her bloody clothes. She walks across the hallway to the bathroom and takes a shower.
After taking her shower, she dries off and walks back to her bedroom. She spots Cadmus in her bedroom.
“Hey, boy.” Misty puts her night clothes on and crawls into bed.
Cadmus jumps up on the bed and curls up at Misty’s feet. He rests his head on her feet as he closes his eyes.
“Night, Cadmus.” Misty felt safe with Cadmus sleeping with her.
Misty gets up the next day and gets ready for school. After getting dressed, she heads downstairs and spots her father feeding the twins.
“Morning, Daddy.” Misty grabs her favorite cereal bowl, milk, and her favorite cereal.
“How did you sleep?” Arnold knew how Misty’s date went.
“Fine. Cadmus kept me company all night. Have you heard from mom?” Misty knew her mother was in California on business.
“Yes, she said that she’ll be home in a few days. Something came up with your sister.” Arnold spoke with his wife and learned some ICE agents had gone after their oldest.
“I can’t wait until she comes back.” Misty loved her adopted mother.
Arnold looks over towards Misty. He knew Misty missed her mother when she went out of town. Misty has matured since Gina first brought her home from California.
Misty finishes her cereal and hugs her father before walking outside and getting into Jennifer’s car. She looks towards her older sister, “morning sis.”
Jennifer looks at her younger sister, “morning Misty. How was your date last night?”
“Everything was going fine until Jayden's hands went wandering. First, he tried undoing my bra, and I told him no. Then he tried putting his hand down my pants and forcing himself on me.” Misty was still upset with what Jayden did.
“What did you do to him?” Jennifer glances at her little sister.
“I slapped him and then punched him in his manhood. Grandma said if the boy doesn’t get the message the first time. Then deliver a second message to him, but make it count.” Misty loved her grandma.
“That works for me. Rae is going to come by and pick you up after school. I know you have your club activity.” Jennifer knew her little sister was in several clubs.
Jennifer knew Misty was a member of the drama club at school. Not only was her little sister a good actor, but she was also good at production management. Misty seemed to have a talent for both. She has already performed in several commercials and a few productions that the drama troupe puts on during the holidays.
Jennifer pulls into the student parking lot and walks with her sister towards the entrance of the school. When the two approach the entrance, they separate and join their friends. Misty and her friends were all in the drama club or the glee/pop culture club. Some of them specialized in special effects and mask-making.
When Misty sees her ex-boyfriend. She makes it known she is through with him. Most people knew that when you piss off a Bounty, you'd better stay out of their way.
Throughout the day, Misty attends her classes and changes into her gym clothes for physical gym classes. There were two boys in her class who, when they played any type of physical sport like volleyball or dodgeball, really got into hurting their classmates. Today, they had their sights set on Misty.
Misty saw Brad and Jake setting their sights on her. A sly smile appears on her face as she gets ready to send the balls back at them. She moves among her classmates, and when the two boys toss their balls at her. She uses a technique her mom taught her and sends both balls back towards them.
Misty watches as the balls strike Brad and Jake directly in their faces. She smirks as she dodges another ball tossed at her. She was good at dodging balls, thanks to her mother, playing with the wolves, and her cousins.
She takes a shower after gym class. She notices that Sabrina and her friend Angela had stayed back to shower as well. Misty knew Sabrina was of Russian and Chinese ancestry. She had blonde hair and blue eyes, but not the standard ethical features of a Chinese person. Angela, on the other hand, was of Polynesian ancestry and liked having blue highlights in her shoulder-length hair.
Misty learned that her birth mother had been from the Midwest, and she had Native American ancestry in her genetic makeup. When she traced what native American tribe her ancestry came from, she found it to be from the Hopi tribe.
Sabrina was more developed than she and Angela. The two of them still wore training bras, or in her case, A-cup bras. Sabrina’s breasts were more pronounced, and she wore C-cup bras. All three of them had gotten their first period around the same time.
Misty knew her period was tied to the same cycle as her mother’s. Even though there are no scientific studies to prove it. She knows her period always starts and finishes at the same time as her mother’s does. Even her sister Jennifer does.
“I heard things didn’t go so well on your date, Misty.” Sabrina looks towards one of her best friends.
“The first part of the date was fine, but then Jayden tried to take my bra off and forced himself on me.” Misty was still a little pissed off about
that.
“I think his friends pressured him to do it. Tom and Alan have already had sex with their girlfriends. According to what Betty said.” Sabrina had spoken with Betty and learned that Charity and Wendy had already let their boyfriends take their cherry.
“Well, I’m waiting until I find the right person. My mom and dad already gave the birds and the bees speech to me. My mother had a birth control implant inserted under my skin.” Misty knew her mother was only looking out for her.
“I wish my mother would do that. I forget sometimes to take my birth control pills.” Angela had to set her cellphone to remind her.
“I know what you mean.” Sabrina forgot sometimes, too.
After the girls finish their showers, they head towards the auditorium for the upcoming performance they are in. Sabrina and Angela had parts in the play, and Misty was helping the director with it. She was making sure everything that needed to be done got done.
When the practice was over, Misty walked with her friends towards the front of the school, where their rides were. She spots her aunt Rae in her grandfather’s Hummer waiting for her. She walks over to it and gets in. “Hi aunt Rae?”
“Hey, Misty. How was school today?” Rae follows the other families as they drive off.
“It was okay. I used the trick mom taught me on the bullies in my class. I don’t think they are going to try targeting me again.” Misty knew both
their noses were broken from the ball hitting their face.
When Misty arrives home, she changes out of her school uniform. She changes into a pair of jeans and a work t-shirt that she bought at a thrift store. She wanted to get started on her daily chores. Which, in her case, was dusting the living room and organizing the den.
Before she starts her chores, she calls the hospital to see how the biker is doing. After getting to know how he was doing. Misty orders some flowers, a get-well card, and sends them to his hospital room.
Misty helps their housekeeper Dapne. Misty liked Dapne, because when she is learning a new recipe, Dapne speaks like Julia Child while she teaches her.
“So, how was your date last night, Misty?” Dapne looks at Misty.
“The first part was okay, but later turned bad.”
“What did your boyfriend do, sweetie?” Dapne looks at Misty.
“He tried to force me to have sex with him. So, I punched and slapped him. He’s lucky mom hasn’t found out because she would sic Cadmus on him.” Misty knew what her mother would do.
“I think your mother would do worse than that, sweetie.” Dapne knew Gina was very protective of her girls.
“I think you're right. How are your classes coming along?” Misty knew Dapne was taking online college classes.
“They’re going well. I have an exam at the end of the week.”
“Good luck on the exam.” Misty knew Dapne worked hard on her college work.
“Thanks, Misty.”
Misty hugs Dapne.
Dapne returns the hugs.
The two of them finish making dinner and set the dining room table. When they go to sit down at the table. Misty notices Jennifer has her right hand wrapped up.
“What happened to your hand, sis?”
Jennifer looks at Misty, “I had an accident at work. One of the machines at work was leaking, and I slipped and sprained my arm when I landed.”
“I’m sorry to hear that, sis. I hope you feel better.” Misty loved her big sister and knew she worked hard.
“Thanks, Misty.”
Arnold had already fed the boys and spoken to Gina. He hopes the company Jennifer works for takes care of all her medical, since the accident happened while she was working for them. Otherwise, he might have to step in to protect his daughter.
After dinner, Misty works on her homework. She normally does her homework in her bedroom, with her stereo turned up. She loved listening to music while she worked.
After doing her homework, Misty takes a shower and dries her long hair. Since she has been adopted by Gina, she has let her hair grow long. She lies down in bed and holds her plushy rabbit.
Arnold walks into Misty's bedroom to check on her. He walked over to her bed and saw that she was already ready for bed.
“Night, sweety.” Arnold kisses her forehead.
“Night, daddy.” Misty smiles at her father.
She watches as Arnold walks out of the bedroom and leaves the bedroom door cracked, so Cadmus can check on Misty. Arnold knows Cadmus liked checking on everyone in the house. He was very protective of his territory.
During the night, Cadmus checks on Misty. He was being followed by Ben. Ben was a French Bulldog; Arnold had found him abandoned on
the side of the road. The poor thing had been tied to a guardrail and left there.
The next few days go by fast. Misty attends school and helps around the ranch. She spends time with her cousins and grandma. Her aunt Julia was protecting a teenage boy who was a witness to a crime. The poor boy was living on the streets and saw two male police officers
assaulting a female police officer and leaving her for dead, after damaging her patrol car.
The person who was handling the investigation didn’t know who they could trust. The person asked Julia to protect the boy. No one would be dumb enough to trespass on the ranch.
Misty walks over to the young man. “Hi, I’m Misty.”
Darren looks at the teenage girl with long black hair who came walking over to him. He had no idea who she was, but felt like he could trust her.
“Hi, I’m Darren.” Darren saw how cute Misty was.
“So, what brings you to the ranch?” Misty was curious.
Darren looks at the teenage girl and figures she must be around fourteen or fifteen years old. He didn’t know if she could be trusted.
“I saw something I shouldn’t have, and now some corrupt police officers are after me.” Darren figures he could trust her.
“Well, you’ll be safe here. No one can come on this property without the wolves knowing about it.”
“There are wolves here?” Darren looks at Misty with a scared look on his face.
“Yeah.” Misty lets out a whistle, and one of the younger wolves comes running over to her.
Darren spots a huge wolf running towards them. He has never seen a wolf this big before.
“That’s Texas. He’s my grandma’s wolf.” Misty watches as Texas walks up to her.
He had grayish fur with a white strip running up the ridge of his snout. He stood a little shorter than Cadmus and Sphinx. He stands next to Misty and looks at Darren.
“Why is he so big?” Darren noticed the wolf was about four or five feet tall.
“I don’t know. My grandfather breeds them. Isn’t that right, Texas?” Misty pets Texas.
Texas stands still and lets the young girl pet and scratch him between his ears. Texas leans his head into Misty’s hand. He leans closer to her body.
Darren couldn’t believe how this wolf was reacting to the way Misty was petting him. He spots two other wolves nearby, but not coming close to either of them.
“Who are those two?” Darren points towards the other wolves.
Misty looks towards the other two, “That one over there is Dallas. He’s one of my grandmother’s wolves. The other one is Stix, and he is my grandmother’s other wolf.”
“How many wolves does your grandmother have?” Darren was curious.
“Well, technically, all the wolves except Sphinx, Terror, Cadmus, and Chaos belong to my grandmother. My mom’s wolf is Cadmus. My aunt
Julia Wolves are Sphinx and Terror. Chaos is the sire to all the wolves here, and he is my grandfather’s wolf. He’s also one wolf that you don’t want to piss off, either. He won’t hesitate to attack you.”
“What does he look like?” Darren was curious about that wolf.
“Oh, you’ll know when you see him. He is the biggest wolf on this ranch and dark as night.” Misty spots Chaos lurking in the woods near her Aunt Julia’s house.
“You’re sure I’m safe here?” Darren didn’t feel safe. Most of the land in front of the house and behind the house was cleared. There were woods to the left of him.
“Oh, I know you are safe here. Aunt Julia is a cop, my mom is a mercenary, grandma is a rodeo cowgirl, and well, let’s just say my grandfather is a person you don’t want to piss off.” Misty was told she couldn’t tell people exactly what her grandfather could do.
“Okay.” Darren wonders who these people were and why Agent Gates picked these people to protect him.
“If there are only wolves here? Then who is that?” Darren points towards a dog being chased by one of the wolves.
Misty places her hand to shield her eyes. “That’s Lobo. He’s part German Shepard and part wolf. He belongs to Aunt Bella.”
“What other animals are there I should be concerned about?” Darren wonders how many animals/pets there were.
“Well, there’s Cracker. She’s my cousin Haylee’s pet. She is a coyote. There’s also Waffles, who belongs to my cousin Haylee and is a
miniature collie. Winter is my cousin Catori’s cat. Then there is Trigger, and she belongs to my older sister, who lives in California.” Misty misses her older sister.
“Is that all?” Darren has never been around so many animals.
“Nope! There are our horses, cows, buffaloes, and chickens.” Misty knew the chickens were a new addition. Haylee bought a few weird-looking chickens and was raising them.
“That’s a lot of animals.”
“Well, we are a working ranch.” Misty knew her grandfather loved raising the cows and buffalo.
“Why don’t you come with me while I feed the horses?” Misty leads Darren over to the barn where the horses are kept. She goes inside the stalls and puts food into the bins in the stalls.
Darren watches Misty clean the stalls and put feed into the bins in each stall. He looks at the barn and notices the horses coming towards them.
“They seem to know you are putting food in their stalls.” Darren couldn’t believe the horses were heading their way.
“They are pretty smart.” Misty pets the first horse that comes into the barn.
The other horses come into the barn and go into their stalls. Darren watches as the horses just walk by him and Misty.
“Does everyone on this ranch ride?”
Misty looks at Darren with a smirk on her face, “Yes! Having a grandmother who is a rodeo queen means you will learn how to ride.”
“Okay.” Darren doesn’t know if he could ride a horse. He was a little intimidated by some of them.
Misty escorts Darren over to the fence that separates the left pasture from her aunt Julia’s property. The pasture had a bunch of young cows and buffalo. They stand there and just look at the youngsters.
“Is it safe to go into the pasture with them there?” Darren was curious.
Misty had to think about how to answer that question. She looks out towards the pasture, “If you’re with one of the adults, yes. If you’re with my cousin Haylee, yes. But by yourself? No, I wouldn’t do it.”
They turn and walk away from the fence. They were still in sight of Julia’s house. They take the path from Julia’s house over to Jack’s house.
“Who lives there?” Darren spotted the huge log-style mansion when they exited from the woods.
“That’s my grandfather’s place. My mom’s house is on the other side of it.” Misty saw three of the wolves who hung around the house.
“What’s that building?” Darren spotted another building behind the main house.
“That’s the hangar and our private landing field.” Misty had looked in the direction where Darren had pointed.
“You guys have your own private landing field?” Darren looked at Misty when he asked that question.
“Yep, we do. All the adults here on the ranch know how to fly. Mom said I can take lessons when I get a little older.” Misty couldn’t wait to learn how to fly. She’s already been up with her mother several times.
Darren was impressed with everything he saw so far. They start heading back to Julia’s house, but instead of taking the path through the woods as they did before. Misty takes Darren down the driveway.
“I bet no one who lives here is fat.” Darren was surprised by how big the property was.
“You haven’t seen anything yet. The back of our property stops at the mountain range behind us. I think grandpa owns some property up in the mountains.”
“You don’t know?” Darren looks back towards the mountains behind the property.
“Sometimes, we only go horseback riding back there sometimes. As for staying fit, you can run up and down the main driveway and build up your speed.” Misty remembered her mother helping her build up her speed so she could pass the physical fitness test that the academy made all students take. They cut across the grassy field towards the road that leads to Julia’s house. When they arrived, Katy was outside looking for them.
“There you two are. I was about to send Sphinx to find you two. Lunch is ready.”
“Thanks, Katy.” Misty heads into the house with Darren.
Misty heads home later in the evening. She walks into the house and spots her sister Jennifer working on her college work.
“Hey sis.” Misty waves to her sister.
Jennifer looks up from her laptop, “Hey, shorty. Where have you been?”
“With Darren. I was showing him around.” Misty walks over and sits next to her sister.
“Who’s Darren?” Jennifer had a puzzled look on his face.
“Someone aunt Julia is protecting for a friend of hers. He saw something he shouldn’t had and now there are people after him.”
“Well, he’s at the safest place. No one will be able to get to him unless they are a sniper.” Jennifer knew there were places around the property that a sniper could set up.
“Still, if they did. Grandpa would go after them and make them pay.”
“True. Grandpa would find them and show them why he is called the Devil’s Bounty Hunter.” Jennifer knew what her adopted grandfather’s
nickname was.
Misty calls the hospital the biker was at and checks on him. She wanted to make sure he was okay. Her aunt Julia had his motorcycle returned to the club. Julia knew how bikers felt about their motorcycles.
Misty helps in the kitchen and sets the table. Jennifer does what she can and helps her father with the boys. She loved her little brothers, but sometimes they could be a handful. After dinner, she has homework of her own to do. She starts on it and gets ready for bed afterwards.
The next few days go by quietly. She visits Darren to see how he is doing. Her cousin Haylee introduces him to some of the horses.
Misty spots Rennie chasing after Dallas. The wolf had run off with her favorite bow. A smile appears on her face. She hears the low rumble of engines coming up the driveway. Even Rennie stopped chasing after Dallas when she heard the low rumble of engines.
Misty turns towards the sound, which was coming up the main driveway. She walks towards the driveway and spots a bunch of motorcycles coming up the driveway. Several of the wolves on the property heard the sound, and she spotted them watching the riders.
Big Jake was surprised by where the Bounty’s ranch was located. He also spotted several wolves watching him and his people. When he came to the fork in the driveway for either the main house, Julia’s Bounty, or Gina’s Bounty, he took the driveway leading to Gina’s Bounty’s house. He spots the young girl who came to the headquarters to tell him about Frank’s son. He stops when he gets close to her.
Just as he gets off his motorcycle, he spots a huge wolf running over to her and stops near her. He takes his helmet off and motions for Frank to do the same. Once Frank is near him, the two of them walk up to the young girl who saved Frank’s son.
Misty noticed that the leader of the MC, whom she and her aunt spoke to, was walking towards her with another person. She wonders what they wanted. “It’s good to see you again, Mr. Morrison.”
“And you, Ms. Bounty.” Jake and Frank stop in front of Misty. They noticed that another wolf had come over and stopped near her.
“Please, call me Misty. Ms. Bounty is my mother.” A playful smile appears on her face.
“Okay, Misty. This here is Frank Sutton; he’s the father of the young man you helped.”
“It’s nice meeting you, Misty. Thank you for stopping and helping my son.” Frank extends his hand towards Misty.
Misty shakes it. “Your son would have done the same for me if I were in danger. How is your son doing, Mr. Sutton?”
“Please, call me Frank. He is recovering. He wants to thank you for the flowers and balloons you sent.” Frank had seen the floral arrangement with the get-well card attached to it.
“I hope it cheered him up. I know what it is like to be stuck in the hospital.” Misty remembers being stuck in the hospital when she had some surgery to fix her bladder and eyesight.
“It did, and thank you. I also want to thank your aunt for having his motorcycle returned to the club.”
“Aunt Julia is working, but I’ll tell her when she comes home.”
“Well, I have a gift for you.” Frank reaches into his vest pocket and pulls out a patch with a Raven holding a banner that says family in red on the ribbon. He hands it to Misty.
Misty accepts it and looks at it. She looks up at Jake and Frank, “Thank you.”
“When other clubs see this patch, they will know you are considered family to our MC. Everyone in our club will be there to help you any time you need us.” Jake wanted Misty to know what it meant to them for saving one of their own.
“Thank you.” Misty smiles at them.
“No, thank you. You saved my son’s life and brought us his motorcycle. That means a lot to us.”
“It was the right thing to do. I do hope your son gets better and will be riding soon.” Misty smiles at both Frank and Jake.
Frank and Jake shake Misty’s hand and walk back to their motorcycles. Once they mount their motorcycle and start the motor. As each of the riders passes her, they salute her with their fist over their heart. Misty watches them as they ride back down the driveway.
Misty watches until the last motorcycle leaves and walks back to the house. She was glad that Frank’s son was doing well. She looks at the patch in her hand and plans on putting it on her book bag.
