The Accident

It all started with me being knocked down by a lorry. I
ended up with my left arm broken below the elbow. My left
leg broken above and below the knee. My right leg broken
below the knee. I spent two weeks in the hospital and then I
was allowed home as my Wife and both of my sisters said
they would look after me. I could just about stand with both
legs in plaster, but I could only use one crutch as I only had
one good arm.

The nurses had put me in a gown as it was difficult to
put trousers on over the leg casts. I had been home for a day
when I tipped some soup over the gown when I was having
my lunch. My wife Sharon said that it would have to come
off and be washed. Sharon and my sister's Jill & Ann
managed to get it off then the said what shall we put on you
now.

Sharon said Pajamas are no use I am afraid Brian you
will have to wear one of my nightdresses. Sharon went to her
wardrobe with Jill and they came back with two nightdresses.
Jill said Brian which one do you prefer, one was a long plain
cotton nightdress with sleeves and the other was a fancy long
nylon one with no sleeves. I said I think the cotton one if I
have to wear a nightdress.

The only way the cotton one would fit was if my arm
cast was inside the nightdress. They all said that was no good
so they tried the nylon one and that they managed to get it on
me with the cast on the outside. They all said Brian that is
your colour it looks go on you. I said it might look good on
me but as soon as I can get these casts off I will be back to
my pajamas.

I managed to get up and hobble to the table with their
help after a couple of days, I said this nightdress is all right in
bed but I am starting to get cold sitting here. They helped me
back to the bed and I started to get warm again. Jill said you
cannot stay in bed all the time you need to get some exercise.
Jill said Sharon lets go and see what we can find that
will keep Brian warm when he is out of bed. They came back
and said this should keep you warm Brian, lets try it. The
helped me out of bed, carefully removed the nightdress then
proceeded to put one of Sharon's summer dresses on me. As
the dress had a back zip they could get my arm cast through
the armhole then they helped me put the other arm through.
Sharon did the zip up and said there you are Brian, that
should keep you warmer.

I said I did not really want to wear a dress, Sharon said
why not you are always getting me to wear one. They all
helped me to get off the bed and to sit in a chair. Jill said
Brian that colour suits you. I sat in the chair for most of the
afternoon it was much better than laying in bed all the time,
even if it meant wearing a dress.

I stayed in the chair until it was time to go to bed, I was
slowly getting used to seeing the skirt covering my legs rather
than trousers. As they were getting me ready for bed Anne
said the dress seems to fit you ok apart from being loose
around the chest. I said it would be as I do not have any
breasts to fill the bodice of the dress. Anne left once I was in
bed as Jill was staying the night in case Sharon needed help
with me during the night.

Anne came back before Sharon &Jill had tried to get me
up. She showed Sharon & Jill something saying they used to
be her Mother in Laws and I thought they would help Brian's
dress fit better. I wondered what Anne was showing them.
They came over and said lets get you up then Brian, The
nightdress was taken of but before they put the dress on me
they laid me back down and I saw what the had been talking
about.

Anne took a pair of breast forms out of a box, I said you
are not putting them on me, but they took no notice and
before I knew it they had glued the breast forms on me. The
helped me up into a sitting position again and the breast form
pulled on my chest. I said take these off they are pulling on
my chest. Anne said they do not come off straight away so
you will have to wear this bra as well.

Sharon and Anne fitted the bra on me and it took a lot
of the pulling away from my chest but I could feel the bra on
my shoulders as it was taking the weight of the breast forms.
They put the dress back on me and I had to admit the dress
fitted better now with the breast forms.

They helped me to get to the chair and I could feel the
breast forms moving as I moved. I said if you did not look at
my head you would think a woman was sitting here rather
than me and it feels odd with the movement of the breast
forms. Jill said she would bring her hairdressing tools
tomorrow, they would wash my hair and tidy it up for me.
The rest of the day seemed odd as every time I looked down I
saw my breasts holding the dress out.

I had a funny night as it felt odd with having breasts that
moved every time I did. In the morning they helped me out of
bed and they put the bra back on me and put the dress back on
me, it did not seem as strange today as I had been wearing it
for the last couple of days. Jill arrived and said they should
wash my hair after I had finished my breakfast and she would
then sort it out.

After I had finished my breakfast they said they would
wash my hair at the table using a jug and a bowl as they did
not think I could manage in the bathroom. They took the
dress off me so as not to get it wet, they covered the table
with a plastic sheet and used one of Jill's hairdressers capes
to cover me. I had to lean over the bowl and between them
they managed to wash my hair. I was sat up straight and they
changed the cape for a new dry one.

Jill started to trim my hair, it seemed different to how
my barber usually does it, she then applied a cream to my hair
and started to roll it up in a hair roller. I said what are you
doing Jill she said making your hair look nice madam so sit
still. After what seemed like all morning she finished putting
rollers in my hair.

I was then put under her portable hair dryer. They
brought me a cup of tea, it reduced some of the boredom as I
could not hear what they were talking about due to the noise
of the dryer. Jill came and turned the dryer off lifted it up she
felt my hair and said you need another couple of minutes. Jill
turned the dryer on and I was left again. After what felt like
half an hour Jill turned the dryer off and said you are done.
Jill then took all the curlers out of my hair and started to
brush it. I was getting used to the brushing when she said
close you eyes and she sprayed my hair with what I assumed
was hair spray. Jill took the cape off me and they helped me
back into a dress, this was a different dress to what I had
worn yesterday. Sharon brought a long mirror and showed
me how I looked, it did not look anything like me My hair
was very wavy and the dress hung correctly on my body with
my breasts filling out the bodice.

Sharon said what do you think Brian or should we call
you Briony now. I said I would not have thought I would look
so like a woman as I do. Anne said with a little bit of war
paint you would pass all but the closest scrutiny. I said I do
not want any as you call it war paint, she said just some lip
colour then, she got out a bright red lipstick and started
coating my lips. The image in the mirror was more of a
woman now than it was before.

Anne said that will do for today we will try the whole
image tomorrow. I said why are you trying to make me look
like a woman, Anne said as you are having to wear a dress we
thought it would be better if you looked like a woman than a
man in a dress. I said it sounds plausible but how far are you
taking it, Anne said just enough so we can take you out in a
wheelchair without everybody pointing saying why is that
man in a dress. I said you are proposing taking me out
looking like this, they all replied yes. Jill said you need to see
more things than just four walls, so if it is nice tomorrow we
will be going out.

The next morning after they had got me dressed Anne
started to apply all manor of powders and creams to my face,
whilst she was doing that Sharon and Jill were applying nail
polish to my fingers and toes, when they had finished Sharon
brought the mirror over again and the image screamed
woman, there was no sight of my old self.

Sharon said there you are Briony lets help you into the
chair and we will be off. They lifted me up and then I was sat
in the wheelchair. I said I am not certain about this but they
ignored me and before I knew it I was outside. They took it in
turns pushing me and we soon arrived at the local shopping
centre, they wheeled me inside and then into Sharon's
favourite woman's clothes shop.

They pushed me around and kept saying Briony what do
you think of this, Briony do you think this would suit you. I
ignored them but in the end I was answering them. I kept
saying this would suit you to one of them if I saw something I
thought would look nice on them. Sharon whispered in my
ear if you want to blend in you have to look for clothes that
would suit you as well as looking for clothes for us. I then
started to look at things that would suit me as I was now. I
found a few things and showed them to the one who was by
my side at the time.

I showed them a dress I liked also a top and skirt. I was
then wheeled into the disabled changing room, Sharon was
holding the dress as well as the top and skirt. Sharon also
brought with her a pair of tie sided knickers, she said you
should be able to wear these Briony. They stood me up and
took off the dress I was wearing, Jill helped me stand while
Sharon and Anne fitted the knickers on me. Sharon said that
looks better we will have to get you some more so you can
wear knickers all the time Briony.

They tried the dress I had picked and to my surprise I
really looked lovely in it. They took the dress off and put the
top and skirt on me, they all agreed that they did not suit me.
They put me back in the new dress saying you look much
better in this dress than your old one. Anne wheeled me back
to the checkout whilst Sharon and Jill went to get me some
more knickers. Sharon paid for the clothes and we left the
shop.

We stopped at a cafe to have a drink we all had a coffee
and a cake. I was then wheeled to a jewellers where Sharon
said look they are still selling those necklaces with your name
on that Brian wanted me to have. I was wheeled into the shop
and Sharon said could we look at the named necklaces please.
The assistant said what name and to my surprise Sharon said
Briony. The assistant brought out three different styles and
Sharon said Briony which style do you like the best.
I looked at them and Sharon whispered in my ear you
always said one would suit me now chose one or I will chose
for you. I chose the style I wanted Sharon to wear, Sharon
picked it up and fixed it around my neck. Sharon then
surprised me by telling the assistant I had always admired a
pair of earings. The assistant said that they were for pierced
ears Sharon said can you piece her ears today.

The assistant called over another assistant and they
marked my ears for piecing, they seemed to take a long while.
I found out why they had taken so long as they gave me two
piercing in each ear. The assistant gave Sharon a bottle of
fluid that had to be applied to my ears to stop infections. The
assistant said I should be able to wear any earings after a
couple of weeks as long as they had silver or gold posts.
I was then taken to a shoe shop and I was bought a pair
of woman's peep toe shoes with a slight heel I left the shop
wearing the shoes. Jill said the shoes looked nice with the
dress, the slippers I had been wearing looked to manly.
We then went into the large department store as we
were going past the makeup section one of the assistants said
come over here she looks so down let me lighten her day I
will give her a complete make over on the house. Anne said
that is kind of you how long will it take the assistant said it
will take me about thirty minutes.

Sharon said thank you very much we will leave Briony
here with you and we will be back in twenty minutes or so. I
was then left in my wheelchair unable to move it one handed
at the mercy of a makeup assistant. The assistant said we will
give you the works your friends will not recognise you when
they come back. The assistant phoned somebody and said
come on Briony we have an appointment with the hairdresser
now.

I was wheeled into the staff lift and up to the
hairdressing salon. The assistant said to the hairdresser
Briony looked so depressed when she was wheeled in what
can you do in half an hour. The hair dresser had a talk with all
the other hairdressers and they all said to their clients we are
going to cheer up Briony do you mind waiting for a quarter of
an hour whilst we all work on her. They helped me out of the
wheelchair and sat me in a movable salon chair.
I had two assistants cleaning the polish off my nails
whilst another was playing with the back of my hair. It
seemed a long time that she was playing with my hair, finally
she had finished and I was wheeled over and they washed my
hair. My hair was towel dried then they put some smelly
chemicals on my hair, whilst they were doing that the other
ones were sanding all of my nails. They put something
around my nails and then coated them with what looked like a
thick cream. They told me to keep my hands still, I was then
taken back and my hair was washed again. The stylist then
started cutting my hair but she seemed to be cutting a long
way away from my hair. They told me to close my eyes and
some of my hair was brushed forwards then it was cut above
my eyebrows.

They coated my eyebrows with a substance then
without warning the pulled it off it felt like they were pulling
my skin off. A cream was applied and the soreness went
away. I wished they had not covered the mirror up so I could
see what they had done. The two working on my nails started
filing them but it seemed as if my nails were much longer
now, they finally added some nail polish the same colour I
had before, my nails definitely seemed much longer now with
the nail polish on.

The assistant from the makeup department then started
applying eyelashes to my own eyelashes, when she had
finished I could see my eyelashes, she then penciled along
where my eyebrows are but it seemed such a small line. I was
then finished with eyeshadow, lipstick and blusher. I was then
helped back into the wheelchair and wheeled in front of a
large mirror.

I did not recognise the person in the mirror as I now had
a long pageboy style haircut but it was now blond, my
eyebrows were nearly non existent just a thin line arched over
my eyes. My eyelashes seemed to flutter now when I closed
them. The assistant said quick we will have to get you back to
your friends, thank the stylists for the lovely quick make over
they have achieved. I thanked everyone and I was then
wheeled into the lift again, as we exited the lift I could see
Sharon, Jill & Anne looking around for me.

The assistant wheeled me up to them and said here is
Briony back safe and sound after here full make over. Sharon
said I would not have recognised you Briony but I like the
hair it suits you. We left the department store and I was
wheeled to the local park, as they thought it was too nice a
day to go home yet.

They found a park bench parked the wheelchair
alongside and we sat their and watched people feeding the
ducks on the nearby pond. Sharon said to me do you realise
what you had done today. I said well they cut my hair, then
dyed it, they replaced the nail varnish and thinned my
eyebrows. Sharon said they did not only cut your hair they
added extensions which usually take a few weeks before they
loosen.

They have added acrylic nails to your own you have to
let them grow out, which is about six months. It looks as if
they waxed your eyebrows they will take a couple of months
to grow back. It looks as if they have used a permanent die on
your hair it is best to wait a month before trying to die it back
to its original colour. The eyelash extensions cannot be
removed you have to wait for your eyelashes to fall out and
be replaced by new lashes. It is good that we had your ears
pieced, as it looks as if you are going to be Briony for a long
time now.

Sharon said why did you let them do so much work on
you, I said they all thought I looked sad and they were so
enthusiastic I could not stop them. We stayed in the park for a
good two hours, Jill went and bought us all a ice cream, after
we had eaten them I was wheeled back home.

That evening when they were getting me ready for bed
Anne said Briony you caught the sun today whilst we were
sitting in the park, your arms and chest are quite red is it sore.
Anne fetched a mirror and I had definitely caught the sun I
had a white briony mark on my neck where the necklace had
been sitting, also I had white marks where the dress had been,
it did not look at all like the marks I got when I was dressed a
Brian. Sharon rubbed the red marks with after sun lotion, the
put me in as it seemed my nightdress, helped me into bed and
I laid there thinking about what had happened today.

The next day I was dressed in the dress I had bought
yesterday, it was starting to feel normal to be wearing a dress
in felt much better now that I could wear knickers the tie
sided one definitely held me tight it was much better than not
wearing anything. Anne said we ought to go out again as I
needed some more dresses as I could not wear one all the
time and it was not right that I should wear Sharon's all the
time.

Jill arrived and said she had hired a car that would take
a wheelchair, she said we can add that to the bill for the
accident. With a car we can go to more places so you do not
have to sit at home all the time. Anne did my makeup but said
you will have to learn how to do it for yourself Briony, that
way you will feel more independent.

I said it is not easy doing things with only one arm,
Anne said have you tried, here put your lipstick on I will hold
the mirror. Anne gave me the lipstick and held the mirror so I
could see my self. I said I should not be putting lipstick on
and she said why not Briony. I said I am a man not a woman.
Anne said at the moment that is not correct so put your
lipstick on Briony. I gave in and tried to replicate what I had
seen Sharon do many times. Anne said that is good for a first
attempt, but you will have to check in regularly and reapply it
if necessary. I was then wheeled out to the car and the
wheelchair was lifted into the back on a hoist and then
clamped in place. I had a good view out as I was quite high
up. The other three got in and we were off, I said where are
we going and Jill said to the large shopping centre and you
can get yourself some more dresses Briony.

We arrived at the shopping centre and they wheeled me
into every shop that sold women clothes. I tried on I do not
know how many different dresses plus a few skirts and tops. I
said can we stop for a while and have some lunch, so we went
into on of the restaurants and had lunch.

I still was not used to the waiter calling me madam and
fussing over me. Anne said here is a mirror Briony touch up
your lipstick it was smudged when you eat your meal, I got
the lipstick out of my bag and applied it. Anne said there you
are getting good at this you will have to try eye shadow next.
Jill then said Briony which dresses did you like the best out of
all you have tried on this morning. I said do I have to chose as
I will not need them much longer, Sharon said yes you do as
you cannot wear the same one all the time.

Sharon said you choose or we will chose for you and
you might not like our selection. I told them of four I liked
and a couple I was not sure of. Sharon said that she liked the
four I had chosen also two of the ones I was not certain of.
Anne said she thought I had chosen well and we ought to go
and buy them now.

We went back to the shops that sold the dresses I had
chosen and purchased all of them plus a couple of tops and
skirts. Sharon said she would take all the parcels back to the
car then we can continue with our shopping. I said I thought
we had finished shopping but they said no we have the rest of
the day. Jill said Sharon we will meet you in the shoe shop by
the restaurant, Sharon said she should not be long and she
went off with the shopping bags. Jill & Anne pushed me into
the shoe shop and Anne said what styles do you like Briony, I
said I do not need any more shoes, Anne said you cannot have
too many pairs of shoes Briony.

They wheeled me around the shop and said this style
would go well with that blue dress you bought. They asked
the assistant for a pair in my size and before I knew it they
had put them on my feet and were helping me stand up. I
nearly fell over as they had a larger heel than I was used too.
Anne said do they pinch at all Briony and I said they did not,
they helped me walk a few steps and said lets get them. I was
helped back to the chair they left the shoes on me and said
she will wear them can you put the old ones in a bag. Sharon
came in and said that is a nice pair of shoes Briony they suit
you.

I was wheeled into all the shoe shops in the centre and
ended up with four more pairs of shoes. I said when am I
going to wear all these shoes as I will be reverting back to
Brian when my bones have healed. Sharon said that will be in
another couple of months so you will have plenty of use from
them. The last pair of shoes if I could call them shoes were a
pair with fine straps going across my foot and around my
ankle, with what looked like a four inch heel, they left these
on me.

It seemed strange, it felt like I did not have any shoes on
the top of my foot and when I rested my foot on the footrest
my foot was held at a different angle to what I was used to. I
said these feel strange I do not think I could walk in these, Jill
said you will find it easy when you try. When we got home
and they transferred my from the wheel chair to my normal
chair, I nearly collapsed with trying to shuffle in the heeled
sandals I had on. I said take these off my feet I could have
another accident wearing them.

Sharon said you will have to get used to them so we will
leave them on until it is bed time. Every time I was stood up I
felt like I was going to fall over, in the end I started to be able
to stand upright without the feeling of falling over. Walking
was a different matter, by bed time I was still having to be
held so I did not fall. They decided it would be better if I
wore the shoes to bed as it would help me with my foot
posture.

The next morning Sharon asked me what dress do you
want to wear today Briony, I said why ask me and she replied
you will have to decide on one or we will leave you in your
bra and knickers. I told her what dress I would wear today
and she said you will now have to decide everyday what
clothes to wear. I was put in the dress and I said these shoes
you left on me do not suit this dress and Sharon agreed and
said what pair will suit then Briony.

I told her what pair I thought would suit and she agreed.
The shoes were changed and I found it easier to stand in the
new pair as the heel was not as high. A letter came in the post
giving me an appointment at the hospital in two weeks with
the surgeon for a check up. I said I will have to try some of
Brian's clothes on that I can wear for the hospital
appointment. Sharon said you know you cannot wear trousers
so you will have to wear one of your dresses. I said I cannot
go as a woman and Sharon said why not I do.
Sharon said with the hair dye, hair cut and the long nails
you would look silly going as a man, so stop worrying
Briony, we will tell the surgeon that you have always wanted
to be a woman and this has given you the chance to do it. I
said why would you say that Sharon, she said stop worrying I
was only teasing you. We went out most days and Anne had
me doing all of my makeup. Anne said I had a natural flare
for doing makeup.

The day of my hospital appointment I was worried what
the doctor and nurses would say when I turned up looking
like a woman rather than a man. Sharon had me dress in my
best dress and a pair sf shoes with a small block heel. They
wheeled me into the hospital and Anne went to the reception
saying I was there. After a wait a nurse called my real name
and they wheeled me into see the doctor. The doctor said are
you my patient and Sharon said yes we could not put trousers
on him so we put him in a dress with makeup so we could go
out.

The surgeon said that I made a good looking woman,
what name do you go by at the moment, Anne said we are
calling her Briony. The surgeon gave me a form to have the
plasters removed then to have the breaks X-rayed then to
come back and see him. I looked at the form and it said
Briony rather than Brian, he said it would stop gossip around
the department. I went to have the plasters removed then had
the X-ray, everybody was calling me madam, rather than sir.
I went back to the surgeon and he said my arm and right
leg had heeled nicely but my left leg would need a plaster for
another few weeks for it to finally heal. The surgeon said I
would have to take it careful with my arm and leg whilst the
bones hardened themselves, he said I should not use a crutch
on my left arm for a couple of weeks to let the arm heal
completely. I was taken back to have my left leg replastered
and to my surprise I ended up with a pink plaster rather than a
white one.

I went back to reception and I was told I would get
another appointment through the post. We went home and
Sharon said that went better than I thought don't you think
Briony. I said I was on tender hooks all morning dreading
going but they were very good about it. Sharon said it looks
as if you will be in the chair for another couple of weeks
Briony.

The next morning I said can I get back to being Brian
and they said not yet we still cannot get your trousers on over
the plaster on your left leg so you will have to be Briony for
longer. They said what dress do you want to wear today
Briony they said you will have to start choosing your own
clothes from now on.

Anne said now you can use both arms you should now
be able to put your own makeup on, she moved the chair in
front of the table stood a mirror on it and gave me what is
now my makeup. They left me to put my makeup on and they
went to get breakfast ready. I finished my makeup and Anne
said you are doing well Briony she touched up a couple of
places, saying I don't think I will have to touch it up for much
longer as you are doing so well yourself.

We had some old dumbbells that we had bought in one
of our keep fit fads, Sharon fetched them saying just use the
smallest one at the moment so as not to hurt your arm but you
can get the muscle back after the time of non use. I then used
the dumbbells every day and I could feel my muscle getting
back to being normal again. I received a letter from the
hospital giving Briony a new appointment rather than Brian.
Sharon said that is good so you will not get looked at in
reception this time. We continued to go out nearly every other
day and I was getting used to being treated as a woman.

On the day before my appointment we were out and
they wheeled me into the saloon that Jill used to work for and
they said can you touch up my roots and another tight perm. I
said I did not want another perm but nobody took any notice
of me and I had my roots dyed blond and then had a perm.
Whilst I was sitting there a manicurist came by and said
your nails could do with an in fill where your nails have
grown. I said they were OK but she said you cannot go
around with nails like that and she fetched her cart then she
filled in where my nails had grown. The manicurist said what
colour do you want now and Jill butted in and said she would
like a nice bright colour to cheer her up.

The manicurist said I have just the one on my cart and
she proceeded to paint my nails a bright pink. Jill said that
colour looks nice on you Briony you should use that more
often. They took me into a women shop and they had me try
on a load more dresses plus some blouses and skirts. I said I
do not need more clothes but Sharon said you will Briony
even if you get the cast off tomorrow you breasts will not
come off for another couple of weeks. I said I thought you
had the release agent, Sharon said we did have but the bottle
got knocked off the shelf and broke, we have not been able to
find any more so you will have to remain as Briony until they
fall off. They bought me another two dresses plus three skirts,
two blouses and three jumpers. Sharon said there that will
give you a good selection of clothes to wear now Briony.

The next morning we went to the hospital and I gave my
appointment letter to the receptionist and she said we will call
you when your appointment is due Briony. We waited for a
while then Briony was called and I was wheeled into see the
specialist. The specialist asked how my arm and leg that the
plaster had been removed from had been I said I had not used
the arm too much as he had said at our last meeting.
He then told me to go and have the plaster removed
from the other leg and to have all of the breaks re x-rayed. I
had that done then waited to see him again. I was called again
and he said that the arm and leg were Ok but I should have
some support for the other leg for a while. He said I should
now be able to use some crutches so I should be able to walk
with the crutches. I should only do a max of two hours a day
for the first week then four hours a day for the second week,
after that I should be able to use the crutches all the time no
more wheelchairs. He said try not to put too much weight on
the left leg for the first two weeks.

I was then sent to see a physiotherapist who would
show me how to use the crutches properly. I had half an hour
with the physiotherapist and she was pleased how well I got
on with the crutches. I was given an appointment to come
back and see her in two weeks time.

I was wheeled home and they said well Briony you
should be able to get around on your own now, Sharon said
leave it for another week then we can try getting you upstairs
to bed of a night rather than down on this camp bed. I said I
am looking forward to sleeping in my own bed again. Anne &
Jill said to Sharon they would only come every other day,
once Briony can get upstairs, we will only come more often
when required.

Sharon said thank you to them you have been a great
help, I do not know how Briony and myself would have
managed on our own. Sharon said now Briony can walk for a
short time how about we four go out for a celebration and
thank you meal on us next Thursday, wear a nice dress and I
will book a table at the Italian restaurant in town at lunch
time.

Anne and Jill said there is no need for you to take us all
out, Jill said yes there is I fancy a nice meal and you have
helped myself and Briony so much over the last weeks.
Sharon said she would not take no for an answer, she went to
the phone called the restaurant and booked a table. I said have
I got to go as Briony why cannot I go as Brian, Sharon said
when have you looked like you do now when you were Brian,
I said never so that is settled then us four girls will go and
have a nice meal wearing our best dresses.

Anne and Jill left, Sharon had me walking around for
five minutes then a rest for the rest of the hour. My leg
muscles really ached after the five minutes, Sharon said you
should now rest the leg do you want me to massage it for you.
I said it should get better if it does not then could you
massage it after my next walk. When we went for the evening
meal it felt good to be able to walk to the table on my own.
Sharon said Briony the way you are going we will only
need the chair if we are to walk a long way this week, I said
yes it is good to be able to get around on my own, even if it is
in a dress and these low heels. Sharon said you are walking
well in those heels, in a week or so you should be able to
walk in your proper heels. I said in a few weeks I will be back
to Brian again in my normal shoes. Sharon said it might be
longer than that it depends upon when the glue lets the breast
forms come off, I said I suppose so.

I was walking about that week and by the end I said I
would like to try and get upstairs. Sharon said yes it would be
nice to have company in bed again. I tried the stairs and I
managed it quite easily. Sharon said Briony sit on the bed for
a while then try and get down again. I sat on the bed for a
while then managed to get down the stairs alright.
Sharon said I will call Anne and get her to come and
help me take the temporary bed apart and clear it up down
here. I said no need to call Anne I will help you. Sharon said
no she would call Anne let your legs and arm get right first
before you try too much. Anne arrived and they tidied up in
no time, the lounge looked bigger again with the bed
removed. Anne suggested as I could get around better now
we should all go out for a meal to save Sharon cooking.

They had me put my makeup on as I had not put any on
we went out to Anne's car and she drove us to the local
Beefeater restaurant. The hostess said welcome ladies a table
for three, Sharon said no four my sister in law will be along
soon. Jill arrived and we had a pleasant meal, during the meal
Jill was told about my getting up stairs. Jill was pleased that I
had managed it saying it will not be long before Briony will
be able to go shopping with us and not in the chair.
The next week I went to see the physiotherapist and told
her that I was walking around alright without the crutches.
The physiotherapist had me walk for her and said I was now
discharged from her but to come back if I had any problems.
When we got home Sharon said Briony lets try some heels
today. I said I was alright as I was but Sharon said you bought
all the heel so you should wear them.

Sharon picked out a pair with a block heel about a two
inch high. Sharon had me put them on and helped me to stand
in them. I then tried to walk in them and found I did not have
any problem. Sharon said Briony you were meant to wear
heels the way you have taken to them. Sharon said she would
put the low heels I had been wearing away as you should now
be able to wear the heels you bought. Sharon called Jill &
Anne to invited them out for a meal.

Anne & Jill arrived and they both praised me in how
well I was walking in the heels. Anne said go and touch up
your makeup Briony and do not forget to pack your lipstick
and compact in your bag. I touched up my makeup and came
back down, Sharon gave me a coat and we all went out to
Jill's car. I said it will much better to be able to sit in a car
properly. Anne said you will have to sit in the car seat then
swing your legs in so you do not show up your skirt Briony. I
sat as told and found it quite easy. We went to a new
restaurant and the waiters treated us as four women, I found
one of the waiters was trying to chat me up. Sharon said you
know why he is attracted to you Briony, it is because you are
the only single girl here the rest of us are wearing wedding
rings but you are not.

Jill said I know after our meal lets go and treat Briony
to an engagement and wedding ring set, she will not have the
trouble then. I said I did not want an engagement and
wedding ring, Sharon said why not you bought me a set so I
should buy you a set. We left the restaurant and they walked
me down to the local jewellers, Sharon said which set would
you like Briony, if you do not choose then I will chose for
you. I chose a fairly plain set and Sharon said I am not buying
that I will choose for you Briony.

They took me into the jewellers and had my ring size
taken, Jill then took me outside whilst Anne and Sharon
chose a ring set for me. They came out and then we walked to
a bench nearby. I was told to sit down, Jill & Anne sat either
side of me. Sharon got down on one knee and asked me for
my hand. She then opened the box and put a solitaire
Diamond engagement ring on me then followed it with a wide
gold wedding ring, saying Briony I am wed to you forever
with this ring.

I felt all tearful and had a lump in my throat when I
thanked her for the rings. Jill said to me you are a proper
married woman now Briony, you should kiss your husband.
Sharon lent forwards and gave me a big kiss.
I said my legs were starting to ache now so we should
go home before they get any worse. Sharon sat next to me in
the car on the way home and I could not take my eyes off the
rings on my finger. Sharon said somebody likes being a
married woman the way she is admiring her rings. I said I
was fascinated in the way the light reflects off the diamond as
I move my hand. Sharon said I knew you liked being
feminine you answered when I talked about her and she.
I said you three have got me all confused the way you
have been treating me as a femail. Sharon said you have not
complained about it, so you must be enjoying being feminine.
When we got home Sharon said you know the sick note from
the hospital runs out the end of next week, you will have to
go to the doctors to get an extension or you will have to go
back to work. I said I cannot go back to work looking like
this. Sharon said you should call the doctor to see if he will
give you a sick note for a couple of weeks, if he does then the
breast forms should have released by then.

I phoned the doctors and got through to him I explained
that I was walking but I still did not feel completely better,
my legs ached after about an hour, but I was still walking
every day to try and get them better. The Doctor said he
would give me another two weeks off but I would have to see
him if I was still not right after the two weeks. I thanked him
and said my wife will come in and pick up the sick note and
take it to my employer.

At the end of the first week I found I was not getting
aches in my legs anymore but the breast forms were still
holding on tight as ever. Sharon said she would go and see
my employer to see what she could do in case the forms were
still attached when I had to go back to work. Sharon and Jill
both went in to see my boss Mrs White and explained what
they had done. My boss was sympathetic and she said if I
looked as good as they said then she could see no reason I
could not return looking as a woman for a while.

Mrs White said she would come home with them to see
for herself. The first I knew was Sharon, Jill and Mrs White
coming in the door. Mrs White said so you are Briony, I see
no reason you cannot start on Monday week and take over
Brian's old job. Mrs White left saying I will see you bright
and early on Monday week then Briony. I was worried about
going into work as Briony rather than Brian. Sharon said do
not worry you have passed so far as a woman. Sharon said I
think you should go out and book yourself a hairdressing
appointment for Friday of Saturday so you will look your best
when you go back to work.

Sharon drove me into town and said Briony why don't
you book at the Saloon where they did your first proper make
over. Sharon dropped me off and said phone me when you
want to be picked up, but not too soon as I am going to see an
old friend and wont be back for an hour or so. I walked to the
Department store and went to the markup counter and the
assistant recognised me. The assistant said I am glad to see
you are getting around alright now, I replied that all the
breaks had healed now. I said I was just going up to the Salon
to book another hair appointment before I start work again.
The assistant said she would come with me and she took
me up in the staff lift again. In the lift the assistant said her
name was Margaret and if I came past her after my
hairdresser appointment she would do my makeup again for
me. We arrived at the Saloon and Margaret said you all
remember Briony don't you and they all said they were glad I
was looking much better now than I did the last time they saw
me.

I booked an appointment on the Saturday at ten o'clock
and I was told I should be there for a good three hours. I went
back down with Margaret and we stood around talking for a
while. Margaret said sit down Briony and I will do your face
for you whilst we continue talking otherwise I will be told off
for not working.

I left Margaret when she had finished and I was pleased
with how she had done my makeup, it was completely
different to how I had done it before, I now had a bag full of
different cosmetics that Margaret had used. I decided to look
for a business suit to wear when I went back to work. I went
to the Ladies department and found a lovely three piece suit a
skirt, trousers and jacket. I then found a couple of blouses to
go with the suit, so I bought them all. I then decided to have a
lunch out, I went into a restaurant and had a light meal and
watched the shoppers go by.

I found I was looking at the women but I was seeing
how they were dressed rather than how I used to look at
women. I thought to myself am I getting into being a woman
too much looking at women like this. When I left the
restaurant I passed a shoe shop and I saw a pair of heels that I
thought would go well with the suit, I went into the shop and
tried them on they fitted me perfectly so I bought them also. I
thought why call Sharon I could catch a bus just as easily. I
caught the bus then walked the short way home, I let myself
in and Sharon said why did you not call me I said I thought I
should catch the bus to save you a journey.

Sharon said I see you have been shopping as well as
arranging your hair appointment. I said I have an appointment
on Saturday at ten o'clock I should put it on the calendar so I
do not forget it. Sharon said let me see what you have bought,
I showed her my purchases and she said she liked the suit and
the blouses all went with it, she said she was surprised I had
bought a pair of four inch heels to wear every day.
The next week went quietly and on the Saturday I went
in on the Bus for my Hairdressers appointment. Sharon was
surprised that I used the Bus rather than her driving me in. I
said I was getting used to the bus as I would have to use one
every day for work as I did not have a driving licence in the
name of Briony. I arrived at the saloon and everybody was
glad to see me.

The hairdresser said did I still want to be a blond or did
I fancy a change of hair colour. I said I fancied being a red
head for a while, so the stylist started to dye my hair, she
covered the mirror up again and said she would show me the
new me when I was finished. Whilst the dye was working on
my hair she said lay back Briony and she waxed my
eyebrows, I thought she has taken a lot off but she assured my
I would like it when she was finished.

The dye was finally rinsed out and a condition added.
She then started too roll be hair up in very small curlers, it
seemed to take forever, it seemed as if she had put a hundred
curlers in my hair. A lotion was then poured over the curlers
and was left for a while. My hair was rinsed and then dried.
The curlers were taken out when my hair was dry and my hair
seemed to stay curled after the curler was removed.

Whilst the stylist was removing the curlers a technician
was working on my nails, when I looked my nails seemed to
be longer than they were when I arrived. The stylist started to
brush and style my hair and finally covered it with hair spray
to hold the style in place. I said can I look at it now but she
said no Margaret wants to do your face first then we will give
you the grand unveiling. I was taken down in the staff lift and
Margaret met me. Margaret said let me do your face and then
you can see the new you. Margaret seemed to spend hours
doing my makeup. Finally she called the stylist down from
the saloon and the took me over to a full length mirror.

I did not recognise the person in the mirror as I now had
really bright Red hair and I had only penciled eyebrows. I
said is that really me and they said yes that is the new you. I
thanked them all on doing such a wonderful job I gave them
both a large tip. I then went to the ladies department and
bought myself a new dress that went with my new hair style. I
bought some long heeled boots, then I phoned Sharon to ask
her to meet me in the shopping centre at our favourite cafe .

I bought a pair of large sunglasses and sat near the back of the
cafe to wait for Sharon. Sharon arrived and looked for me she
did not recognise me so she sat and waited for me to arrive.
I let her sit for a while and then called her on her mobile
asking her how long would she be. Sharon replied I have been
in the caf for ten minutes, I said why had she not come and
sat with me then. Sharon said you are here I did not see you, I
said I would come and sit with her then. I waited for a couple
sitting near me to get up and I followed them out. I sat down
next to Sharon and she said I did not recognise you looking
like that Briony. I said I fancied a different look for when I
start work on Monday. Sharon said nobody will recognise
you looking like that.

On the Monday morning I went into work and went
straight to see Mrs White's office and she said I will
introduce you to all the staff as Briony who is standing in for
Brian while he recuperates. I was introduced to all the staff
and none of them recognised me as being Brian. I had to
remember not to know any bodies nickname at least until I
had been working for a few days. I was still working as
Briony after a month as the forms still did not want to come
loose.

I decided that I was enjoying working as Briony rather
than Brian so I decided to stay as Briony for the foreseeable
future. I told Sharon that evening and she said she thought I
would as I seemed to be much happier as Briony than I was
as Brian.
