Lupe had gotten a scanner from one of the forensic techs and gave it to Russell to scan the rest of the plushies in the room. They were moving Piper from 3B to 5A. Only one plushie had a hidden camera, and it was connected to a burner phone.

The forensic tech lifted fingerprints from the phone and ran them through their portable scanner. The print came back as belonging to Mike Basknight.

“We got a match, Officer Sterling. The print belongs to Mick Basknight.” Bart looked toward Officer Sterling and the Givens.

“Where did the arrangement come from?” Gloria was curious.

“Sweeney Florist. They do a lot of business with the hospital.” Bart knew there weren’t many florists in the area that dealt with the hospital.

“Send a patrol officer to speak with them.” Detective Brandon Jones looked towards Officer Sterling when he spoke.

“On it.” Officer Sterling calls the instructions into the station.

While everything was going on in Piper’s old hospital room, Piper was in therapy, getting used to breathing with just one lung. They also forced her to walk around to help her learn to breathe with one lung. She saw the local news vans and reporters being kept down in the lobby.

There had been a news release about her being female and living in a boy’s group home. Along with stories about her medical condition and how an unknown assailant had shot her. Included in the story were pictures of her in the nude that showed her genitalia. They even had copies of her medical report. No one knew where they got the pictures, and if they did, they weren’t saying.

Along with the story about her, there was a story about Councilman Everett’s oldest daughter selling her body for a debt she owed her pimp. The news that Piper was a shemale was getting a huge reaction from viewers. The story about a councilman’s daughter being pimped out for money was getting a huge reaction.

Liberator Safe House:
Mike had retreated to one of the safe houses his father’s group had set up. He charged the battery on the old 4x4 Chevy Silverado stored in the barn, covered. He put fuel in it and made sure it started. The last thing he needed was to escape quickly and find out the truck didn’t start.

He let it run for a while before shutting it off. Luckily, his father’s group believed in being prepared and had plenty of meals on hand. They didn’t taste great, but it was better than nothing.

He wanted to know who those people were with Officer Sterling. Also, why were they in Piper’s hospital room? He needed to know who they were and why they were here.

Grand Max Used Cars:
Jeremy was back at the car lot, enjoying lunch, when breaking news interrupted the game he was watching. He had a thousand dollars placed on the outcome of the game. The news was about the girl that Mike had attacked. The report was that the girl wasn’t exactly a girl, but a shemale, and she was staying in a boy’s group home.

Then the story shifted to the oldest daughter of councilman Everette’s and how she was paying off her drug debt. He knew Jodie would never have approved of any of the photos they were showing on the newscast being shown outside the brothel.

His nephew took advantage of Mayor Cowley’s twelve-year-old daughter. He drugged her and took naked pictures of her before impregnating her. When the Mayor found out, he threatened to take action for what he did to her.

His nephew threatened to release photos of Mayor Cowley having an affair with his sexy secretary. Basically, it was a standoff between the two of them, because the photos would ruin Mayor Cowley’s reelection campaign. So Jeremy’s nephew had to promise not to post anything else, and the mayor wouldn’t take action against him or his nephew.

Jeremy knew he needed to find Mike and find out what his plan was.
