Hmmm, Brian2 is a murderer, while Helen2 and Allen2 are genuinely nice. Brian1 is best buds with Jams, while her Mom and stepfather are worthless and abusive... Is it weird they have shifted attitudes about Jamie in particular or what?

Brian1 actually doesn't like Jamie very much. If you read carefully in Chapter 1 you'll notice that he goaded Jamie into trying the flip. He probably didn't want Jamie to almost kill himself, but he expected him to fail. Also, remember who most of Brian1's friends are: Jock's (basically).
The accident was not the last time that Brian made a fool out of Jamie and had a laugh at his expense. It is not (currently) in the scope of the story, but Brian1 is a Sadist, if not worse. . .
Remember that this is told from the perspective of a teenager, and the world revolves around them. . .or so I personally thought at the time, erm, I mean they, so they think ;).
All this boils down to the following: I am not trying to make a world that revolves around Jamie, it just seems so from her perspective. She is a bit paranoid after all.
A note about Allen2: About 200 years ago there was a split in the Patriche family that let to one branch of it naming themselves Patrice. It was a falling out between brothers over a girl. In Earth2 the other brother from Earth1 got the girl. This led to Andrew and Allen switching roles between the two. For the non Genealogists out there, that means that this split happened about 10 generations ago. Allen2 and Jamie2 are eighth cousins, once removed. There are married couples all over the US more closely related to each other than that.

It is getting to the point now that Jamie is going to need a program to know who everyone is. I do wonder why he would not recognize the detective if he is another Allen Patrice, wouldn't he look like Jamie's father? Jan
Satisfying End to Brian
I never really liked Brian so I liked to see him confess. That was very satisfying.
Getting stuck in the dream was an interesting twist. And she got saved by princess Jamie. Nice touch.
This is such a cute little story. I hope you're able to keep it up.
The father revelation also adds some depth to this. Thanks.
