Very interesting ongoing
Very interesting ongoing story.
Jessica has developed very supportive and mutually beneficial friendships with her friends and business
associates.
It's time she got a joint bank account and credit cards for Mark and her.
I'm sure her bank will not have any problems with her new account.
Her joint accounts with Cindy might be frozen, but she can open a new individual account.
Her salary from the business and her Sea Gal cheques can be deposited in it.
Thanks
D
I really have to wonder about
I really have to wonder about Fred (the lawyer). Any divorce proceedings that freeze one clients assets and makes them homeless is very hard to swallow. I could see this happening on a very short term basis, but a self employed person being frozen out of even a minimal subsistence allowance from their own bank accounts is very unbelievable. You have to wonder what's going on with Fred that we don't know about?
Jessica needs to be taking some personal interest in her financial interests. Certainly no one else is. Does Cindy even realize that she has forced Mark onto the streets as a homeless person? As a lawyer, I would be hitting the judge with a motion to unfreeze enough assets to live on, so my client could stop couch surfing and living off of the charity of others. The simple evidence of the emotional devastation that Mark went through when Cindy left him would excuse his lack of response to the initial attempts to contact him.
Mark/Jessica seems to be more interested in their newest software ideas than solving their life issues. Really, wouldn't talking to Cindy solve the divorce settlement issues more quickly than allowing this court case drag out for how long? Even if they don't talk face to face, but through email, lawyers or what ever?
Fred
did tell Jessica that he didn't have any experience in divorce law. And yes, Jessica/Mark is still more comfortable with programming than with people. More nudges outside her/his comfort zone might help her/him grow. There's still a lot of story to go.

I know. That's one of the
I know. That's one of the charming things about this story. J/M isn't perfect. They try and they grow with each effort.
Susan, I'm really enjoying the story and I certainly hope it doesn't end too soon!
If you are going to worry about Fred...
...then you need to worry about a lot of real life lawyers too. From the guys I know losing access to your financials is quite common. I know about three guys it happened to. One millionaire I know lost everything as he was unable to meet contract requirements. Nevertheless his wife's payout was based on the value of the company before her legal action destroyed it. She's rich, he is bankrupt an classified asd a deadbeat dad.
No this crap is not unusual at all, not for males anyway. Got a friend staying here. He has nowhere else to go. Judge insists on an agreed settlement and she (the ex) won't agree to anything that doesn't give her 80%. So no settlement. She has everything and no need to settle. Been going on nearly two years.
dump Phil!
Come on girl...
I Suspect Phil's Answer...
...when Jessica confronts her will be something to the effect that he took her in and paid all her expenses, but didn't say anything about exclusivity.
The question will probably come down to how badly Phil still needs a trophy wife to keep things moving ahead for him at work. Can he buy her silence, let her move out and just tell his employers that they've separated, or would that jeopardize his position?

Cheating men
I wont say what's really in my mind about men who cheat even though they have the best and most loving partners possible.
Okay, here's a hint. Castration anyone!?
Hi Viv,
It's not his family jewells that need cutting off, it's the other thingy!
